Dear St. Luke Families,
This week was a great week for learning. Many wonderful things are happening in our school. The elementary students were working hard with our literacy intervention program which gives students extra support in phonetic awareness as they work on sound recognition. An important skill to develop their writing and reading skills. It is always a joy when students come down to the office to share with me their writing projects. I see the confidence building in them and how proud they are to share. Our middle school students were working very hard this week on their numeracy skills. Fractions seemed to be a big focus all across the grades.
As January comes to an end we come to our halfway point in the school year. Many things are happening now including our planning for next year. We have two very important surveys that are out both are asking for as much community involvement as we can get as these surveys are the start of our planning for next year. Our community engagement survey which was sent out last week only takes a few moments to fill out but it allows us to hear your input into the programs we will offer next year. Our school has many strengths which we are hearing already through the survey. Small class sizes, excellent teachers, caring environment and faith filled. We also have heard many great suggestions for options programs and support for our nature program for next year. We need your help to broadcast this out to the community. We are focusing on increasing our enrollment so our school stays the vibrant school that it is but we need your help. The second survey is our annual EICS Assurance survey. This survey asks for feedback in our four areas. Faith, Learners and Learning, Systemic Wellness, and Community Engagement. The results of this survey are shared with our community as well as with the division. It is used as well for planning for next year as we look at our strength as well as areas to improve on. Both these surveys are very important for planning and they allow opportunity for parents, students, and staff to have input into next year. Please check your emails for the links to these surveys. We really value the feedback that we receive.
Next Friday as Term 1 report cards will be available to you. They will be available to you through the Powerschool Parent Portal. More information will be available next week.
Enjoy the beautiful weather God has given us this weekend,

Out Grown it?
The office is always seeking 1 or 2 extra pairs of pants, tee-shirts and socks in a variety of sizes to send home with a student who may have had a spill or accident on the playground or in the art room and requires an emergency change of clothing.
If you have an item that your child has outgrown and would like to donate it to our infirmary, we would appreciate that gesture.
(Unfortunetly, we do not have the space or capacity to accept large amounts of clothing but would certainly appreciate 1 or 2 of each item total per size)
Trinkets and Prizes - Birthdays
We are seeking ways to reduce environmental impacts on the environment.
As such we would like to invite your children to donate any small items they no longer play with (fidgets, book-marks, small figurines, etc.) to our school Birthday Prize bin so that another child may enjoy that item opposed to it going to the land fill.
Thank you for helping us keep environmental stewardship and the spirit of giving, alive and well at St. Luke.

February is often a time for love. We celebrate Valentines day, The trees hug one another, birds flock together, squirrels chasing one another. During this time, listen for the birds' songs, The chickadees especially.
Watch the video below which discusses learning with the land as seasons change.
