Bus Transportation Update-Effective Monday, September 16th:
- In order to manage bus population, some students riding bus 10 and bus 7 may be notified of a busing change. Students involved were called to the the office this week and informed of the updates involved. Any questions, contact main office and they can assist.
- Some bus 10 students will move to bus 4 for morning and afternoon.
- Some bus 7 students will move to bus 6 in the afternoon only
- Updated routes can be seen here: https://www.oxps.org/apps/pages/transportation
After School Departure/Activities:
- All students are expected to depart campus by their recorded departure means (bus or parent pick-up/walking). If a parent/guardian needs to alter the afternoon departure means, we must have a note on file.
- All students must depart at dismissal time unless we have written permission where the student will be staying for a supervised school activity.
- Students staying after school at OMS must have a signed permission slip to stay in a staff supervised club or activity.
- Students are not permitted to remain on campus to hang out before an athletic or school event that they want to attend later in the day.
Morning Drop-off and Afternoon Pick-up:
Thank you to the parents and families who assisted this week by following the traffic pattern for drop off and pick up. As a reminder to parents:
- Parents who drop off in the morning: Please PULL ALL THE WAY FORWARD in the drop off lane to accommodate the line of cars and other students waiting to be dropped. Pulling forward helps us to get all of our students in on time.
- Parents who pick up in the afternoon: Please PULL ALL THE WAY FORWARD, FILLING ALL 3 LANES. When those lanes are full, Stay to the left side of the main drive along the grass. Please DO NOT BLOCK BUS LANES. REMAIN IN LANES UNTIL CROSSING GUARD RELEASES, AND WE RELEASE 1 LANE AT A TIME. This is necessary for the safety of the students on our campus.
Band and Chorus:
- Band and chorus began this week during extension period. We utilized the parent surveys from the spring and the student surveys we gave this fall in advisory. If your student wanted band or chorus but was not scheduled for it, please reach out to your child's counselor: A-L Ms. Karsok mailto:mkarsok@oxps.org and M-Z Mr. Donahue mailto:tdonahue@oxps.org
- Please know that if a child is in need of tier 2 academic supports, those will happen in cycles and may result in being pulled from extension period for these supports. Students interested in band or chorus who are not able to participate during the school day due to academic supports during extension time, which is when band and chorus run, there are after school opportunities for you to still be a part of these groups. After school band is on Wednesdays with Mr. Kim. After school chorus will be on Tuesdays with Mr. Sampson. Students interested in these after school programs should see the teachers to get a permission slip to participate in after school band/chorus.
