Library News
Families, please be advised that due dates for school-issued materials are coming up quickly! Any materials not currently being used for class can be returned at any time - the sooner, the better!
The end of the school year is when we find out that students have lost or damaged equipment, textbooks, or library books. When this happens, students are assessed a fee to help repair or replace the item. These fees will begin to show up on your ParentVUE as our staff begin to collect items from students to close out the school year. To minimize or avoid these fees, please talk to your student(s) about the school resources they have checked out to make sure items get returned on time and in working order. How to pay on ParentVue.
Seniors: Students will not be able to pick up their cap and gown without returning all materials and paying all fines. All library books, textbooks, and Chromebooks are due by 2:30pm on Thursday, May 29th.
9th - 11th grade:
Textbooks need to be in by June 6th, but if items are not needed for a current class or exam, please return them now!
Students are keeping their Chromebooks over the summer and should have renewed them. If you are notified of an overdue Chromebook, have your student stop by the library to renew or the device will be locked over the summer. Students are responsible for the protection of their devices against damage or loss.
Students can always check to see what books they owe in the Destiny app under the lock and key by clicking on My Info and they can view their fines in StudentVue. If you feel any errors have been made, please contact Ms. Hackenmiller at allison.hackenmiller@ahschools.us.

Bell time changes planned for select schools in the 2025-26 school year
Bell times for the five traditional high schools in the Anoka-Hennepin School District and for eight other secondary sites are shifting starting in the 2025-26 school year. The reason for the change is to prioritize staffing ratios and classroom support as part of a $26 million reduction and reallocation plan approved by the School Board at its Nov. 25, 2024 meeting. Get the full details.
View report cards online
Families may login to their A-H Connect account or download the ParentVUE mobile app to access student report cards. Report cards are only available online and will no longer be sent through postal mail or student’s backpacks. For assistance with your login information, contact the Anoka-Hennepin Schools HELP Desk at 506help@ahschools.us or 763-506-HELP (4357).
Testing opportunities for students to earn a World Language Proficiency Certificate or Bilingual/Multilingual Seal
Anoka-Hennepin students with a mastery of world languages can use that knowledge to earn special recognitions – World Language Proficiency Certificates or Bilingual/Multilingual Seals.
What are the certificates and seals?: The Minnesota World Language Proficiency Certificate and Bilingual and Multilingual Seals were created by the state of Minnesota as an official recognition of proficiency in a language in addition to English. There are three award levels that denote specific language abilities, and students who prove their proficiency, either through study or as native speakers, will have a notation entered on their high school transcript to reflect their functional abilities in the language.
Additionally, college credit can be awarded to these students who attend or transfer to Minnesota State Colleges and Universities and select other post-secondary institutions within three years of graduation from Anoka-Hennepin.
Testing information:
Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 12-4 p.m. at Champlin Park High School. Registration will be open from March 18, 20205 - April 30, 2025.
Confirmation emails will be sent to students and families the week of May 5-9.
Cost for the test is $30 per assessment, or $10 if the student receives free or reduced-price lunch. AAPPL tests the following languages: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Hybrid Format Exams are available in: Swahili, Ukrainian, Tamil, Dari, and Pashto.
NEW: There is no fee for students taking the Extempore Exam for the 2024-25 school year due to a grant that the Minnesota Department of Education received from The Securian Financial Foundation. Extempore tests the following languages: Amharic, Dakota/Lakota, Hmong, Karen, Ojibwe, Somali, and Vietnamese.
Who can take the exam?: Any interested 10th, 11th and 12th grade students can register to take an exam.
Dig deeper: To learn more about this opportunity, see the languages currently available, and register to take an exam, visit ahschools.us/bilingualseal.
Suspect Nerf Wars or Senior Assassin games? Time to take action
District schools have been alerted through information shared by students and parents that confirms that students in our community are participating in the “Nerf Wars” or the “Senior Assassin” game, activities that are self-organized by students. These games are not sanctioned or sponsored by the school district. Careless participation in these games can lead to dangerous situations for students.
Why it matters: The district is alerting families in an effort to maintain a focus on learning in school while also eliminating community concerns regarding unsafe driving and dangerous activity.
The basics: “Nerf Wars” or “Senior Assassin” games are played across the nation and in our communities by students, typically in the spring.
This game involves forming teams and paying a fee to participate in a tournament style competition in which competitors are eliminated by “tagging” them with a nerf gun, air soft gun, or by other means consistent with rules of that particular game.
Depending on the number of students, the “cash prize” can be significant.
These games are not an official school activity nor are they sanctioned by the district.
Not allowed at school: Students are not allowed to participate in the Senior Assassin game. Replica and/or toy weapons are not allowed on school property.
Students who violate school policies are subject to consequences consistent with district policy.
Law enforcement is aware and alert to enforcing traffic laws and safe vehicle operation as a result of this game.
Safety first: Even though these games use toy weapons that are relatively harmless, there has been a student death in another community that occurred as students were playing a similar game while driving. Parents and guardians are encouraged to reinforce safe driving practices with their children to ensure their safety and the safety of their friends.
Community members who witness careless driving or unsafe activity should contact law enforcement for proper follow-up.
