Walker Center Continues to Raise Awareness
The Walker Center continues to raise awareness about addiction and mental health in our rural communities. In August, we launched our "Buck the Stigma" campaign, challenging the silence around addiction and encouraging support for those struggling, especially among rodeo athletes, farmers, and ranchers. This September, we're celebrating National Recovery Month with our #RecoveryRocks initiative, spreading the message that recovery is possible and worth celebrating. Looking ahead, don’t miss our DEA Prescription Take Back and Trunk or Treat event on October 26th, where you can safely dispose of unused medications while enjoying a fun, family-friendly experience. Together, we can make a difference—let’s continue to break the stigma and support recovery in our community.

Thank you Mike Kelley for Your Hard Work & Dedication!
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the pending retirement of Mike Kelley, our current Ordinance Officer and dog catcher. A specific date is not scheduled as yet but, could be in the next 60 days. We know that finding a replacement for Mike will be difficult at best, yet eager to do so to carry on his care for the dogs of this community.
If you are interested in continuing his efforts and becoming a part of the Gooding Police Department Ordinance enforcement team, please obtain an application at the Gooding City Hall or the Gooding Police Department. You may also find it at the website for the City of Gooding.
This is a full time position with benefits such as health insurance, PERSI retirement, Vacation, Sick time and Holidays. Starting pay is $17.00 – $19.00 / hour which may rise after six months. Applicants will be subject to a background check. A driver’s license and good aptitude are required for this job.
We would like to thank Mike for his years of service to this community and specifically the animals he has cared for over the years. With his dedication, our dog shelter has remained a “No Kill Facility”. This is a tough accomplishment in a small town with a large amount of dogs fostered and adopted over the years, as well as sending even more to shelters outside of our immediate area to find their forever homes.
