PRINCIPAL's MESSAGE
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year!
We loved seeing students returning to campus today for Meet the Teacher.
I hope you all enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating summer. As we start an exciting new school year, I want to extend a warm welcome back to all our our returning families and a heartfelt welcome to those joining us for the first time. Our dedicated teachers and staff are eager to support each of our students in reaching their full potential and discovering their strengths and passions.
This year, we are thrilled to introduce a weekly newsletter to update families regularly with Dickson updates. We encourage open communication and invite you to engage with us throughout the year. Your partnership is vital in creating a supportive environment where every student can thrive.
Here's to a successful and inspiring school year ahead!
Sincerely,

AERIES DATA CONFIRMATION
Thank you to the families that completed their Data Confirmation before Meet the Teacher! Many of you knew who your teacher was a day early!
For Families that have not completed Data Confirmation, Miss Martha in the office is happy to help you complete the necessary forms.
Requirement:
Every family must complete the Aeries Date Confirmation every year. This must be completed before a student can find out who their teacher is at Meet the Teacher on Friday, August 2nd. Once the school year starts, students cannot attend a field trip without having their Aeries Data Confirmation completed. If you need help, the office staff is available to support!
Please call the office to make an appointment to guarantee being helped first. Walk-in help is also available, but there may be a wait.
Data Confirmation Instructions:
To complete Data Confirmation, you must be logged into your Aeries Parent Portal account.
- Parent Portal accounts are automatically created when a student is enrolled.
- If you DO NOT have an Aeries Parent Portal account, please contact your school site. They can assist you with adding your email address. You will receive an email confirmation from Webmaster@chino.k12.ca.us with further instructions.

Lunch on the Lawn | Picnic Palooza
PTA and Dickson Staff are excited to offer more opportunities for families to spend time together on campus! We will host a special event called "Picnic Palooza", also know as "Lunch on the Lawn.". During this time, adult family members can join their student(s) during their regular lunch schedule.
Students can enjoy their hot lunch from the cafeteria and bring it outside to the field to eat with their family, or adult family members can bring a special lunch to enjoy together.
Please remember that all adults must check in through the Raptor System in the office before entering campus. To save time, you can get pre-checked by bringing your government ID to the office during business hours (7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.). Once you are in the system, you can simple give your name to receive your name tag to enter campus.

ATTENDANCE
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow
Attendance in school leads to better performance for children when they are adults. As such, CVUSD has a new attendance challenge for the 2024-25 school year. They are challenging schools to attain a 96.5% attendance rate. The school with the highest attendance rate in each feeder group will be awarded a huge trophy at the end of the trimester and earn a school-wide pizza party at the end of the year. Let's work together to earn the trophy and pizza!
School starts every day at 7:50 a.m. To ensure our students make it to class on time, we offer breakfast and supervision beginning at 7:10 a.m. Between 7:10 and 7:40, traffic is very light.
Please make illness the only reason for an absence. When your child misses school, they miss out on important instruction, and it takes a while for them to get caught up. Last year, Dickson's attendance rate was only 93%. Our district and school goal is to meet the 96.5% attendance rate.
This year we will be having weekly grade level and classroom attendance competitions.
Students with absences and tardies will be asked to attend scheduled Saturday School.
Let's work together to make attendance a priority! Please let us know how we can provide support if you are having any difficulties.
