Weekly Inspiration
With week 1 of the NFL starting this past week, I felt like this would be a good one to share again. If only this were true!!!
Also, if you need to get pumped up this morning, don't forget to check-out the staff walk up songs from Friday. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them this weekend!
Cardinal Recognitions
Thank You To:
- Sam Hanley & Stacey Matlock for being the King and Queen of Homecoming Week! They dedicate a lot of their time, energy, and effort to making a successful Homecoming week and their committment is very much appreciated!
- Bradley Mitchell for his first successful Homecoming as the Student Council sponsor. He was coached by Joe Leonard, but did a great job of taking care of the details and making the process his own.
- Our girls volleyball team and coaches for an exemplary behavior report from the IHSAA. They were complimented for their sportsmanship during a very competetive conference match at Bloomington South.
- Our support staff members who are truly the unsung hereos of the school every day - thank you all for your dedication to the students of SHS!

New Teachers to Perry Township Celebrated
Dr. Spray and Mrs. Pollard spread some joy to our new teachers this week by delivering cookies to their classrooms. Thank you to our central office administrators for taking the time to recognize our new teachers who chose to join the Perry Township family!
Powderpuff Football Game
The Powderpuff Football game tradition continued as girls from each class gathered to compete on the field for bragging rights. In the first game, the Freshmen took on the Seniors. The Freshmen put forth a good effort but couldn't handle the experience and athleticism of the Seniors, falling 32-0. In the next game, the Sophomores and Juniors played. It was back and forth, but the Juniors were unable to score and lost to the Sophomores 13-0. The championship game featured the Sophomores and Seniors. While the Sophomores put up a good fight; the strength, height, and athleticism of the Seniors pulled them to victory - winning with a final score of 20-7.
A special thank you to Bradley Mitchell for organizing the event and arranging announcers, refs, and coordinating the evening. We also want to thank the students who helped run the event and our staff volunteers for coaching the teams. Without their time, this event would not be able to take place.
Coaches
9th - Jacob Smith/Leonard
10th - Snodgrass and Raye Lynn Jordan
11th - John Davis
12th - Jacob Wormann
SHS Alumnus of the Year Luncheon
The SHS Alumni Association hosted an Alumnus of the Year luncheon on Friday. All past Alumnus of the Year recipients are invited to attend. It is a great event to update the alumni on all of the amazing things happening at SHS and to stay connected to the community. Thank you to Brent Bockelman, President of the Alumni Association, for opening the program and to Caleb Francis for allowing us to utilize the Black Box Theatre for the luncheon.

Homecoming Parade & Court
Thank you to Sam Hanley, Stacey Matlock, and the Booster Club members for organizing another fabulous parade and Homecoming court celebration. The "Lights. Camera. Southport." theme brought great floats and banners. Thanks as well to all the teams, clubs, and organizations who participated in the parade and competitions. It was a wonderful community event and ended up being great weather!
Homecoming Dance
Thank you to Mr. Mitchell and the SHS Student Council for arranging the DJ, decorating, and organizing the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night. A special thanks as well to Mr. Morse and Mr. Weimer for going through the application and approval process for students to attend, and Mrs. Leach for collecting the ticket sales and creating the final list of students. Thank you to the staff members who signed up to work, the AABC for running the concession stand, and the admin team for setting up the stadium. It was a beautiful and cool evening, but everything went well because of the work and preparation of everyone involved. Way to go Cards!
