Dear Alt Ed Community,


I hope the New Year is being good to everyone! We are moving fast through January and February is right around the corner! We welcomed many new students to both Del Amigo and Venture at the semester. Both schools came together and participated in community building activities to introduce new students to their classmates and staff. It was great to see so many engaged in the activities and look forward to future events!

*We are excited to announce a Field trip to DVC. Del Amigo students and Venture 11th and 12th graders are invited to attend. Interested students need to complete THIS form and a field trip form will be available to pick up and fill out if interested.

*Discovery Counseling Center is offering a group for LGBTQ+ High School Aged Teens. It’s a place to connect, share experiences, and receive support around LGBTQ+ related issues. Our group fosters a sense of belonging, promoting both personal healing and collective growth through open communication and mutual understanding. The group is free for all Danville residents and offers the first 6 sessions for free to non-Danville residents. I know this is a tense and scary time for our queer youth, and want to make sure they are aware of the supportive spaces available to them. American Association of University Women - Scholarship Opportunities

The Danville-Alamo-Walnut Creek (DAW) branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is offering college scholarships to individuals who identify as women. Current high school students who will be at an accredited college or university in the fall of 2025, and staff who are undergrad/graduate students are eligible to apply. Applicants must currently attend or, in the past, have attended high school in Danville, Alamo, or Walnut Creek, or currently reside or work in these communities. All submissions for this year’s San Ramon Valley Street Smarts video contest are due Thursday, January 30, by 4:00 pm. Middle and high school students are invited to unleash their creativity and promote traffic safety by creating a public service announcement that will be shared in next year’s school assemblies. This year’s theme is “Safety First!” Winners in each category receive cash prizes! More information and submission links can be found here.

All parents/caregivers are invited to this virtual meeting hosted by SRVUSD and SRV Council of PTA’s. The Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) and SRVUSD WorkAbility Program will discuss their programs and resources available to students and families. More information and Zoom link can be found here.

We want to inform you that over the next couple of months, our students will be participating in the CAASPP Interim Assessments for both English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. These interim assessments are an excellent way for us to monitor student progress and identify areas that may need additional support before the actual testing period.

Please note that the official CAASPP testing will take place in April. We will be sharing the detailed testing schedule with you as we get closer to the date.
