🏫 A Note from your Administration 🏫
Hello, Husmann Parents & Guardians!
With the weather starting to warm up even more as we head to the end of the school year, that means our Cougars are even more energized once they are outside before school or during the lunch time block. That means even more playing and interacting with one another. At times, the games become rough, and/or someone is trying to make contact with someone else.
We do a lot of re-teaching of recess expectations here at school, as well as re-directing (to other activities if one becomes too much). We want our Cougars to interact with others and burn off energy, but we have to make sure that is done in a safe, kind and responsible manner! We are asking our families to have similar conversations at home with their children so that we can have a great finish to this school year! One thing we have learned, at times, is that friends or groups of friends change by the day, so that would be a great conversation to have at home as well. Ask your child who they have been interacting with, what types of games they have been playing and so on. Thank you, as always, for partnering with us here at school!

Crystal Lake Police Department Safety Presentations
As part of our ongoing collaboration with the Crystal Lake Police Department, Community Resource Officer Kristiana Stolzman will return to District 47 schools starting April 15th to deliver important safety presentations. These age-appropriate presentations will address crucial topics such as automobile and bike safety, home safety practices including secure gun storage, community safety measures including abduction awareness, and the dangers of substance abuse. Scheduled between April 15th and May 2nd, these assemblies aim to equip students with essential knowledge and skills to navigate potential risks responsibly and were created based on the instructional mandates from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and are mandatory with no option for opting out, as per state requirements. Presentations have been tailored to ensure each grade receives content suitable for their age group.
💛💜 WE NEED YOU! 💜💛
There are a lot of different volunteer opportunities available as we head into the last few weeks of school (field day, staff appreciation, open house, choir bouquets-- to name a few!). Our Volunteer Opportunities sign-up genius is updated as we need help so please be sure to check often if you are interested in volunteering!
The end of the school year is quickly approaching - which means Staff Appreciation Week is right around the corner! This year our theme for the week will be Husmann Farmers Market where we will have a fun market style set-up for the staff with a different focus each day ranging from a Build Your Own Bouquet Bar to a picnic lunch to a mini-market where staff can "shop" all things fresh and local!
We can't wait to spoil our Husmann staff one last time before ending the school year, and truly could not do it all without your generous donations of time, talent and money. If you're able to donate your time and/or talents by helping bring this vision to life during Staff Appreciation Week (Monday, May 5th - Friday, May 9th) please view our SignUp Genius here. If you're able to contribute in another way by providing food, drinks or other necessities, please view our SignUp Genius here or our Amazon Wishlist here.
Thank you for helping to make this year so special for our Husmann staff!
