Wolman Elementary Newsletter

News from Ms. Ricks, Principal
November is in full swing at Wolman Elementary! Our PTA has been preparing for very fun Thankful Parties for our Explorers, which will be held on Friday, November 22nd! Your child will be bringing home a paper flyer today and there is more information below regarding our parties and how to ensure your visitor badge is pre-printed to save you time when you arrive for your child's party! We look forward to our Thankful Parties and want to give a shout out to our awesome PTA for their hard work with planning a fun time for our students!
We wanted to make you aware that we are noticing an increase in the use of threatening and unkind language by our students. Our teachers and our administrative team have been talking to students about the importance of using kind and appropriate words and reporting inappropriate/unsafe situations to school staff immediately. Your help at home with reinforcing this information would be most appreciated! We want to ensure that our students learn in a positive environment where they feel safe and we can best achieve this by providing a consistent message to our students.
We are continuing to collect notes of thankfulness from our parents and students to distribute to our awesome staff during the next couple of weeks. Our goal is to be able to give notes to ALL of our staff members. We kindly as that you use the link below to send a note of thankfulness to a teacher, counselor, custodian, librarian, cafeteria worker, front office, nurse, or aide. You can submit as many forms as you would like. Help us show our wonderful staff just how much we love and appreciate them! The form can be found here: We Are Thankful For Our RJWE Staff 24-25 Form
Our PTA sponsored Father Daughter "Boots and Bling" Dance will be held tonight, Thursday, November 14th from 6-8 p.m. We hope you are able to attend this fun and memorable event! There is lots of other important information below so please review the following sections carefully. Thank you for your continued support! Have a wonderful week!

Chromebook Reminders
Student ID's for Bus Riders
Student ID’s for Bus Riders
As a reminder, ID’s are required by all students entering the bus and in order to ensure safety, failure to enter a bus and a campus without a student ID cannot occur. Students were provided two ID's at the beginning of the school year; one of which was attached to their backpack. If your child has misplaced his/her ID, parents will need to provide a replacement. Bus riders who fail to have an ID may be suspended from transportation services. We appreciate your assistance with ensuring your child's ID stays attached to his/her backpack for safety purposes. Please contact your child's teacher if he/she needs a new student ID. Thank you!
New Procedures Regarding Lunch Visitors
It has been great seeing so many lunch visitors! As a reminder only parents/guardians, non-school aged children and immediate family listed on the 24-25 Lunch Visitors Parent Permission form are able to visit for lunch. Due to limited space, visitors are limited to 2 visitors per student. Please note the following: Each parent must sign up for their own seat and a separate seat for any non school age siblings. PLEASE REMEMBER when signing up to include your child's name and teacher in the comments. All visitors must show a physical, hard copy government issued ID (driver's license or passport) when you arrive for lunch. We ask that each student be limited to having a lunch visit one day per week to allow all Explorers the opportunity to have a lunch visit. If you are not able to come to lunch after you signed up, please remove your name from the list. Also, please be aware that a few minutes prior to your child's lunch time ending, the monitors will direct your child to join his/her class; this helps with making our cafeteria exit procedures run more smoothly. The following links will guide you in signing up for lunch times to visit your child and with providing lunch visitor permission. Please call 281 234 1700 with any questions. Thank you!
Fifth Grade Personal Health and Safety Guidance Lesson Information
The Personal Health and Safety guidance lesson for 5th grade students whose parents opted their child in for the presentation will be provided on Friday, November 15 during the specials period. This lesson is in accordance with Texas Education Code 28.004 and Senate Bill 9. The lesson will be presented by the school counselor, Melissa Baker. Students whose parents did not opt in will go to their regular specials class during this time. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Baker at melissaebaker@katyisd.org or at (281) 234-1731. Thank you!
