Jaguar Journal April 2024
Johnson PK Center Monthly Newsletter
A Note from our Site Administrator - Mrs. Huggins
Well, March just flew by! I hope that everyone had a wonderful Spring Break, and that your kiddos got their reading completed for the Spring Break Reading Challenge during their time off. Be sure to turn in Reading Logs ASAP so they will receive the recognition earned!
It was so nice to see everyone last week when we returned. It is amazing to see how much your kiddos grow over the breaks! They have done a great job of sliding back into our school routines and procedures. These little Jaguars are going to be ready for Kindergarten in no time! With that said, we are on the downhill slide to the end of the school year. Attendance is more important than ever as we make the big push to solidify all of those skills to insure that everyone is ready to move on to Kindergarten in the fall. Please be sure that you are getting your child to school every day unless they are truly sick (see the chart below for guidance), and please get them here ON TIME! We have seen an increase in tardies over the 3rd quarter. Please remember that the tardy bell rings at 8am here at the Pre-K Center. We open the doors at 7:45am so that students have time to eat breakfast before we get started for the day. When students come in late, they are missing the essential instruction that occurs during that first hour of the day and they also miss out on that social interaction with their classmates that sets them up to get their day started on the right foot. Please help them be successful by getting them to school in a timely fashion every day. This will also begin a good habit before moving up to Elementary School.
I have included some important dates for the end of the school year in this newsletter,. Take note! We have lots going on through these next 7 and a half weeks!

Attendance is IMPORTANT! EVEN IN PRE-K!
Student attendance is one of the largest factors in student academic success. Students that come to school every day do better in school. Here at Johnson Pre-K we recognize classes daily who have perfect attendance. Mrs. Huggins personally comes to the class to celebrate perfect attendance days, and those classes are also recognized at our weekly Rise-N-Shine program on Friday mornings. Classes track those Perfect Attendance Days, and they receive a prize for every 10 perfect attendance days achieved. Additionally, names of students with good attendance are put into a drawing every quarter to receive a fancy new scooter! Unless your child is truly sick (fever, vomiting, or diarrhea) please send them to school every day! How is your child's class doing? See below...
