The 929
The Countdown Is On!
It’s hard to believe that we’re just over two weeks away from the start of the school year! Here at Edgewood, we’ve been busy with administrative training, finalizing schedules, and putting the finishing touches on preparations for the 2024-2025 school year. We’re thrilled to see many of you next week during our Eagle Days!
Best regards,
Louis Kotvis
Principal

6th Grade Ice Cream Social (New Posting)
We’re excited to announce a 6th grade Ice Cream Social, sponsored by the PTO, immediately following the 6th Grade Eagle Days. The ice cream truck will be available for all 6th grade students from 12:00-1:00 PM. Please ensure your student attends with an adult for supervision reasons. Thank you!
Eagle Days (Second Posting)
We’re excited to offer various dates and times for students and their families to visit Edgewood and walk through their schedules before school starts. If you cannot attend, that’s perfectly okay—students will have designated times during the first days of school for activities, such as lock setup and familiarizing themselves with the Edgewood building layout. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility. Additionally, we’ve added an extra block of time to accommodate the Washington, DC trip for our 8th graders. Thank you for your support!

Back to School Hub (New Posting)
For all things related to "Back to School," please visit our Back to School Hub website. We will continue to update the Hub and communicate through The 929. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to reach out to an Edgewood administrator.

The 3rd break in the same school year will be charged at full replacement price: $583. Lost/Stolen iPads will also be charged at full replacement price.

Logitech Crayons will be repaired at a lower cost, if possible.
Lost/Damaged keyboards will be $120.
Lost/Damaged chargers will be $28 for cable and brick or $19 each.
Lost iPads are $687.95 (ipad+case+crayon) to replace. The technology department requests the family files a police report and provide a police report number.

Schedules (Updated Posting)
Schedules will be released on August 9th at noon. Parents should receive an email from the district that will provide directions for how to access the schedule in the "portal" on Infinite Campus.
Update: Please note that any schedules you may have seen on Clever/OTUS are not final. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate class changes or schedule requests at this time. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
Family Advisory Committee (Second Posting)
This school year, I aim to increase family engagement by starting a Family Advisory Committee to boost parent involvement and create a more favorable environment for Edgewood. This committee will focus on creating goals based on the family engagement survey from HumanEx and the 5 Essentials survey. If you are interested in volunteering please fill out this form to get future communications from me after school begins.
Associate Principals Roles (Second Posting)
You will notice that while we have three Associate Principals for the 2024-2025 school year we have moved away from having "grade level" associate principals and will be following a different model. For instance, our associate principals will split an alphabetical list of students to oversee 504s and behavior. We will also have one associate principal handling most IEPs. Please read about our new APs here. Mrs. Keri Williams will return for her second year. Please stay tuned closer to the start of the year and at Open House to learn more about the APs roles and responsibilities.

New Bell Schedules (Second Posting)
Starting this year, we will have a single, consistent daily schedule and will no longer have "Eagle Days," "Block Days," or similar variations! Please review the new Daily Bell Schedule and Early Release Bell Schedule for Edgewood. You will also see something abbreviated as SSB in the schedule. This stands for “Student Support Block,” a new addition at Edgewood that will occur each day. It will serve as each student's "homeroom" or "advisory" period for the year.
Clubs/Sports and More (Second Posting)
At Edgewood, we offer a wide range of clubs, sports, and after-school activities for students. It's important for students to engage in these extracurricular activities, as they provide valuable opportunities for personal growth, teamwork, and skill development beyond the regular classroom experience. Stay tuned for future communications and links about the exciting opportunities available for your student to get involved and make the most of their time at school!
