Eagle Eye - October 2024
Middle/High School Community Update
"Windom Eagle Express: Soaring Through News and Notes!"
Fall - Middle School News
Dear Windom Middle School Students and Families,
I hope this message finds you well and thriving as we move deeper into the school year! We are off to an outstanding start, and I couldn’t be more proud of our students, staff, and community.
First, I want to express my appreciation for everyone’s support as we transitioned to Infinite Campus. The shift has been smooth, and I’ve heard a lot of positive feedback from families and staff. This system will continue to streamline communication and help keep everyone on the same page regarding grades, attendance, and much more as we continue down this path.
I also want to share how splendid it has been to see the success of Chromebooks staying in the classroom. This approach is allowing students to focus better, engage in learning, and avoid distractions while giving them access to the technology they need during school hours.
A few important dates to note for October:
October 17-18: There will be no school for MEA.
October 21-25: We will be hosting ALICE Week, where students will engage in safety drills and learn about important emergency response procedures.
As we approach the end of the first quarter on November 1, I encourage all students to stay focused, finish strong, and continue to engage in their learning. Please see the calendar below for other important dates.
I am especially proud of the high level of participation from our 5th through 8th graders in school activities. Whether it’s athletics, clubs, or extracurriculars, it’s amazing to see how involved and dedicated our students are!
Finally, I want to give a huge thank you to the parents and guardians. Your support has been nothing short of outstanding, and it makes all the difference in helping our students succeed. We truly appreciate your partnership in making Windom Middle School a great place for learning and growth.
Let’s keep up the great work, and here’s to a fantastic October!
Go, Windom Eagles!
Sincerely,
Mr. Dane Nielsen

High School Principal's Message
We are off to a fantastic start! Our staff and students have settled into the 24-25 school year and it is fantastic to see amazing learning taking place everyday.
As we head into October, homecoming and the start of the year are in the rearview mirror. We want to thank the Windom community for the all encompassing support for our students in and out of the classroom.
October brings with it the second half of quarter 1. Please encourage your students to take care of academic work, and if help is needed we have dozens of people willing to offer supports at most any time.
There are many great events taking place in October, but the one I'd like to highlight is our October 7 Windom Mayor Debate sponsored by our College Political Science class. Our senior political science students are working with the community and our students to create an hour long discussion among our 3 candidates for mayor in Windom. I have been so impressed with the thoughtfulness and willingness to work on behalf of our students as we prepare this first of its kind opportunity for our community. Civic engagement is such an important part of adult life and it is an honor to help our students work with our community to develop such an important public service for Windom in this unique election year. Students working together to serve the community - it is what we are all about at Windom Area High School.
Happy October Everyone and Best of Luck to all our Eagles & Wings competitors as we approach postseason play!
