Welcome to October!
As we enter the heart of the school year, we are excited to bring you a series of valuable opportunities to help students and families navigate the college application process. The College & Career Centers at Alhambra High School, Mark Keppel High School, and San Gabriel High School are committed to providing resources that will guide you toward a bright future.
Last month, we hosted our 17th Annual District College Fair at San Gabriel High School! It was an incredible event filled with informative conversations, helpful resources, and guidance from college representatives. This month will be the start the official start of the 24-25 College Application season. This is a crucial time for 12th grade students looking to apply to a 4 year college/university for Fall 2025. See below for school day College Application Workshops. Please note that applications for California Community Colleges for Fall 2025 (sometimes listed as Summer/Fall 2025) will open for 12th grade students in January 2025.

CCC Family Presentation Series🏫
We are excited to announce our October College & Career Center Family Presentation Series Sessions are open to all 9th–12th grade families! These sessions, held via Zoom, will cover key aspects of the college application process, ensuring you're well-prepared to tackle deadlines, meet requirements, and submit your applications with confidence. Whether you’re just starting your college journey or finalizing your applications, these presentations will offer essential insights.
All presentations will be held from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Zoom. Click the links below to register for each session:

College Field Trips: Explore Your Future!
This school year, the College & Career Center is excited to offer students the opportunity to explore a variety of local universities through organized college field trips. During Semester 1 (Fall), we plan to visit Azusa Pacific University (APU), Cal State Fullerton (CSUF), and UC Riverside (UCR). In Semester 2 (Spring), we’ll visit Los Angeles Trade Tech College (LATTC), Pasadena City College (PCC), and East Los Angeles College (ELAC).
Due to limited budget and space, students are allowed a maximum of two field trips per school year, ensuring fair access for all interested students.
- First field trip: Azusa Pacific University on October 4, 2024
- Permission slips available: Visit your College & Career Center to sign up - limited spaces, so visit soon!
- Note: Students may not pick up permission slips for friends
- Spots on the bus are not guaranteed
- After submitting your permission slip and completing the pre-field trip worksheet (on the back of the permission slip), it will be reviewed for completion. You will be notified via student email if you’ve secured a spot on the bus.
Career Development Opportunities
In celebration of National Career Readiness Month, we’re excited to help students kickstart their career exploration journey with a series of engaging and informative workshops. These workshops are designed to give you the tools and confidence you need to take the next step toward your future career!
Workshop #2: How to Find (and Apply for) the Perfect Job!
This month’s featured workshop will guide you through the process of identifying the right job opportunities for you and how to effectively apply for them. Learn how to craft a standout resume, write a compelling cover letter, and prepare for interviews that leave a lasting impression. Whether you’re looking for part-time work, internships, or full-time career opportunities, this workshop is packed with practical tips to help you succeed!
Workshop Series Details:
- What: A series of 3 career-focused workshops, with a different topic offered each month this semester.
- When: During MoorTime/PowerTime/ME Time in the College & Career Center.
- Why: Students who attend all 3 workshops will be eligible for a Certificate of Completion—a great addition to your college or job applications!
You can choose to sign up for 1 or all of the workshops, depending on your interests and availability.

CalKids Scholarship
Is Your Student Eligible for a CalKIDS Scholarship? They Could Receive Up to $1,500!
As a California public school student, your child may qualify for a CalKIDS scholarship ranging from $500 to $1,500 to help fund their college or career training.
This scholarship, funded by the State of California, can be used for a variety of education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, computer equipment, and even certain room and board costs.
Checking your child’s eligibility is quick and easy—it only takes a minute! Simply have their 10-digit Statewide Student Identifier (SSID) ready, which you can find on PowerSchool or your transcripts.
