PACELLI POST

DR. MARTIN'S MESSAGE
We are incredibly proud of our eighth graders for being accepted into their chosen high schools. If your child has received one or more scholarships, could you kindly email me the total amount? I’d love to gather information on the total value of scholarships earned by our eighth-grade class.
On a different note, over the next few weeks, students applying for preschool, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten will be assessed by the Early Childhood Director and the kindergarten teachers. After meeting with me, families will receive official notification of their child’s placement, along with an enrollment form. The application can now be submitted to confirm their intention to enroll once the assessment is finished.
AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE HEALTH CLINIC
IT’S NOROVIRUS & INFLUENZA SEASON
Hello from the Cardinal Pacelli Health Clinic!
We feel that it is a good time to review some illness information for guidance as we transition into the winter months. If your child gets sick, it is often most appropriate to keep him/her home from school. Once you have followed up with your child’s healthcare provider, please follow their instructions for return to school in addition to our illness policy.
A child who is sick will not be able to perform well in school and is likely to spread the illness to other children and staff. Please make arrangements for childcare ahead of time so you will not be caught without a place for your child to stay if he/she is ill.
Our school policy states that you should not send your child to school if he/she has:
1. Fever (>100.4 degrees) in the past 24 hours
2. Vomiting in the past 24 hours
3. Diarrhea in the past 24 hours
In addition, if your child has a bad or continuous cough, with or without a fever, please keep him or her home and follow up with a health care provider.
If your child becomes ill at school and the teacher or school nurse feels the child is too sick to benefit from school or is contagious to other children, you will be called to come and take him/her home from school. It is essential that the school have a phone number where you can be contacted during the day and an emergency number in the event you cannot be reached. Please be sure that arrangements can be made to transport your child home from school and that childcare is available in case of illness. If your daytime or emergency phone number changes during the year, please notify your child’s teacher immediately.
These guidelines are meant to serve the best interests of all the children in our school. If you have questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact your child’s health office.
PREVENTION:
● Staying up to date with vaccinations.
● Practicing good hygiene by covering coughs and sneezes, washing (or sanitizing) hands often, and cleaning frequently touched surfaces.
● Taking steps for cleaner air, such as bringing in more fresh outside air, purifying indoor air, or gathering outdoors.
● Please review the links above regarding Influenza & Norovirus
Thank You
