West Bay Weekly Update
August 16, 2024
Principal Notes
West Bay Families,
We had an amazing first week of school with the kids! It was great to see students settling into routines and learning more about their teachers and peers. A few reminders as we start the year:
- Please do not drop students off before 7:55, there is no adult supervision outside until then. Students who eat breakfast will enter the building at 7:35.
- When dropping off/picking up students only enter through the North entrance. Students should be ready to exit and enter on the passenger side of the car. Please do not cut the line, students should only be crossing at the crosswalk. Also, please remember to drive away slowly for the safety of the students.
- Cellular devices are not allowed in the classroom. Students will be asked to put their phones and/or watched in their backpacks upon school arrival. Students can always come to the office to call home.
- When arriving at West Bay, please ring the doorbell, we will ask for your name and the purpose of your visit. We must ask each visitor, so please do not piggyback or let others in behind you. Once you are inside the vestibule, the door to the office is locked, we will buzz you in again.
- If students would like to order double lunches, you may pick up a form in the office that will need to be signed and turned in.
Enjoy the weekend!

Building Visitors and Volunteers
At West Bay, the doors will remain locked during the school day, and all visitors will gain access using the security camera/access panel outside of the school's main entrance. The office will grant access after you do the following steps:
1. Push the button and wait for an identification request.
2. Give your name and purpose for entering the school.
3. When you hear the door unlatch, enter and proceed to the office.
4. Sign in on the visitor sheet and take a visitor badge.
There are many ways to get involved as a parent at West Bay. Please check the West Bay PTO page for volunteer sign-up opportunities.
Beginning September 3, 2024, we welcome parents to eat lunch at school with their children on special occasions. You may bring in a meal for you and your child or you are welcome to call in an adult cafeteria order by 9:00 am on the day of your visit. We have visitor seating available at lunch and our staff members are always willing to answer any questions you may have.

EPS Mass Messaging System
EPS and individual buildings use a parent messaging system called SchoolMessenger to send emails, phone calls, and text messages to parents sharing district information, monthly updates about building happenings, and weather-related school closings. To ensure receipt of these updates, please verify that all contact information listed in your parent PowerSchool account, including phone numbers and email addresses, is up to date and correct.
Additionally, this system allows recipients to “unsubscribe” from its mailing list; however, by “unsubscribing” you are completely removing your email address and phone number from both District and building lists. If you choose to unsubscribe, you will not receive any communication from your child’s assigned school or the EPS District. If you accidentally unsubscribe or decide you would like to begin receiving emails again after unsubscribing, contact your building secretary to change your communication status
EPS Text Messages
EPS utilizes text messages to efficiently share important information with parents, including weather-related school closings and bus route delays. To receive EPS text messages, please text “Yes” to 67587 to opt in.
