What is Working Memory and how does it impact my child’s learning?
Working memory is a 3-second window where you have difficulty processing while remembering, and it is your entry to long-term memory. Unfortunately, Working Memory is decreasing, making it difficult for children and adults to process larger units of information.
*This information was learned while attending an Executive Function training at CLA with Sarah Ward, M.S., CCC/SLP.
Memory Games to Play in the Car:
I’m Thinking of an Animal - The parent thinks of an animal and the student has to ask yes or no questions to determine what the animal is. Variation: You could think of a food or an item in a different category.
I’m Going to the Park - Someone starts by saying they are going to the park and bringing an item, and then the next person repeats what the first said and adds another item. The game continues until you make a long list that can no longer be successfully remembered. Variation: You could go to a different location such as the grocery store and say what you will buy, or go to the zoo and say what animals you will see.
Sweetheart Dance - Friday, March 7th, 5:30-7:30pm

Help us protect and expand NH Education Freedom Accounts!
The New Hampshire Education Freedom Account (EFA) program offers grants for families, 350% of the poverty line or below, to spend on their children’s education, including tuition at the school of their choice, tutoring, online learning programs, educational supplies, and other educational expenses. You can learn more and apply here.
On the other hand, while this program is supported by a majority of New Hampshire citizens, opponents in the legislature continue to introduce bills to repeal or weaken the program, seeking to take away educational options from the 5,000+ kids who utilize the program.
Contact your lawmaker by going to Education Freedom Coalition and clicking "Edit & Send Email" to express your support for EFAs and your opposition to bills that would alter the program and take away opportunity from New Hampshire students.
