Happy March!! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We had a great visit from one of the Harlem Wizards last Thursday! Information is below for the event taking place at the high school. This week we will be celebrating Read Across America Week! The LAS and WAS PTA collaborated so that the spirit week will be the same all week! Tomorrow begins with Cranford Spirit Day so any Cranford gear will do! The full list of activities can be found here.

The Class of 2026 is running this year's Harlem Wizards Game at CHS on 3/20 at 6:30pm. We are proud to host this event and want to encourage everyone to attend. The tickets are on sale right now and can be purchased here.

WHAT IS THE NIGHT OF THE STARS (NOTS)
The Night of the Stars is a talent show for Livingston Ave students. Acts can be solo acts or performed in a group. In the past we have had singers, dancers, gymnasts, musicians, comedy skits, magicians… just to name a few! If your child loves to perform, this is their moment to shine and share their talents with the LAS community! ️
We are thrilled to announce that the Performance will be held on Friday, May 16th- at the Cranford High School. Time TBD.

CHS Building Bridges Registration Open
Cranford High School Building Bridges program is currently open for registration. This program offers an opportunity for students in Kindergarten through 4th grade to meet students from across the Cranford Public Schools district in a friendly and welcoming environment under the guidance of a high school Building Bridges ambassador. Each monthly meeting, students will meet and work on activities from crafting, sports activities, supporting CHS athletics and free play. Registration for the entire year is $20 per child. If you are reporting your student absent or arriving late to school:

If you will be picking up your student early for a Dr. Appt, etc.:
- Please send an email to your student's teacher, Nurse Damm and Mrs. La Shure to advise the date & time of the early pickup, as well as the reason (Dr. Appt, Family Vacation, etc.). Please also indicate if your student will be returning after the appt., or leaving for the day

LAS Lunch Information
Free or Reduced Lunch
Cranford Public School district offers healthy meals each school day. Lunch costs are 5.00 for students. If you feel your family is in need of financial aid for student lunch, please review the information below regarding Free or Reduced Lunch. If you would like to apply for consideration, please send completed application(s) with the required income verification to your child's teacher in an envelope addressed to the LAS Main Office / Attention: Mrs. La Shure.

Lunch & Recess Information
We will continue with a one hour lunch at LAS with half the students eating while the other half goes out for recess. Then we switch. For the first trimester, fifth grade will be eating first with half of third grade. Fourth grade will be at recess first with half of third grade. Our lunch runs from 11:40-12:40 daily. You are welcome to send in lunch with your child or order through Pomptonian.
You can find directions for ordering here.
Please note, you need to order by midnight the night prior to ensure your child has lunch. There is no option to buy with cash on the day of.
Also, we are unable to reheat lunches, so plan accordingly.
Indoor Recess- The PTA provided board games and activities for the students to play with on inclement weather days. Your child can bring in a book, coloring book, activity book or board game to use during this time. No personal devices are allowed to be used during this time. Cellphones and Smart Watches are expected to be off and away once inside the building. Please talk to your child about this expectation.

The parking lot behind Livingston Avenue School is for Staff Only. Please do not park in the lot. Livingston is a one way street where you can pull over and let your child out to walk into their designated door. We have staff at both entrances to assist them. If you do wish to park and walk your child, please park along Livingston Avenue and cross at one of the crosswalks. Your cooperation is appreciated so we can keep all safe.

POMPTONIAN 6th ANNUAL HEALTHY LUNCH CHALLENGE
Happy New Year! I hope this email finds you well as we kick off 2025.
As promised, I am reaching out regarding Pomptonian’s 6th Annual Healthy School Lunch Challenge, an initiative designed to treat the cafeteria as an extension of the classroom while celebrating National Nutrition Month. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get students involved in the kitchen and excited about creating healthy meals.
Here are key details:
• Students are invited to submit a healthy recipe by February 24th.
• Submissions will be divided into three categories: Pre-K through 5th grade, 6th through 8th grades, and 9th through 12th grades.
• For each category, we’ll select two Grand Prize Winners and one Super Grand Prize Winner.
• The top three high school contestants will compete in a cooking challenge at Driscoll Foods in their professional kitchen on March 7th from 8:30AM-2:30PM.
We created a short video detailing the competition: 6th Annual Healthy School Lunch Challenge. Additionally, attached to this email are flyers with all of the details of the challenge.

2025 - 2026 Registration is NOW Open!
The Cranford Board of Education is happy to announce that registration for the 2025-2026 school year is now open. In addition to registering students for grades kindergarten through Grade 12, the Cranford Board of Education will continue to offer a tuition-based full-day kindergarten program and a half-day preschool program, with selection through a lottery system. For more information on these programs, and to register for their respective lotteries, please view the following flyers. Please note that lottery signups will close at 4:00pm on Friday, January 10, 2025.
