The Special Education Foundation
The need for financial assistance is growing at an alarming rate for those with audiology needs. Since hearing aids, hearing molds, audiological equipment, and/or repairs are not always covered by insurance or tax dollars, we need your help more than ever before!
Funds will be used to purchase hearing aids, earmolds, repairs, and all things audiological. On behalf of the students and parents we serve, know that your generosity and support are greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping SEF provide more children with the gift of sound. Donations accepted through April 5, 2024 https://sef-stl.org/fundraising/arbeiter-donation.html

Staff Spotlight
Sarah Eigelberger
Sarah Giger
Hello! I’m Sarah Giger. I have been a school psychologist for 15 years; this is my 11th year with SSD and 2nd year in the Kirkwood School District. I work at North Kirkwood Middle School and Westchester Elementary Schools. I consider myself to be so lucky and honored to work with amazing colleagues, students, and families in both of my buildings! My favorite part of my job is working with teams to do what is best for kids and helping parents understand the evaluation process. My husband (of nearly 18 years) and I have four children (Henry-14, Oliver-13, Frances-5 and Vivienne-2) and a dog (Tilly-1), so free time is a luxury! I do enjoy working on my golf game with my husband, gardening, cooking with my kids, and playing Bunco with my girlfriends every month.
Katie Newton
Hello! My name is Katie Newton and I am a paraprofessional at Keysor Elementary. I have been with SSD in Kirkwood for 11 years. I started my journey at Westchester Elementary and after 3 years moved to Keysor where I have been for the past 8 years. I love my job because it is never the same two days in a row. It is constantly changing as the kiddos are changing. I also love seeing the kids grow and develop new skills either with our guidance or on their own. The best part of the job is the kiddos, they make it fun and always keep us laughing! Outside of work I like to hang out with my family, go to Cardinals games, and just relax.
