BSES Weekly Update
September 20, 2024
Principal Message
BSES Families-
We had another wonderful week at school! Our Kindergarten classes enjoyed continuing their "lunch bunches," which provided a great opportunity for connection and fun during lunchtime. We wrapped up the week with an exciting afternoon meeting in the gym, bringing together our entire fifth-grade class.
As we head into the weekend, we say farewell to summer and officially welcome the fall season. A special thanks to our school beautification committee for the gorgeous fall decorations that are helping us celebrate the season in style.
Wishing you all a relaxing weekend and a happy start to fall!
Take care.
Tara Allen & Susan Papson

STEAM Classes & Clothing Bin
It’s here…..a clothing bin at BSES!! We now have a bin on our property to collect unwanted clothing, outerwear, footwear, accessories, and bags. By supporting our bin at BSES, you can ensure that contributed items are repurposed or recycled, rather than ending up in landfills. Later this fall, students will learn more about the bin during the Environmental Unit in STEAM classes. Join us in making a positive impact!

Drop-Off Reminders
We’d like to kindly remind everyone about the importance of following our drop-off procedures to ensure the safety of all students.
- Drop-off begins at 8:40 AM at the side of the building, with students entering through the gym doors. These doors remain open until 8:55 AM.
- If you arrive after 8:55 AM, please park and walk your child into the building.
- For safety reasons, please avoid dropping off students at the front of the school, as this area is reserved for buses only.
- The school day begins at 9:00 AM. If your student arrives after 9:00 AM, they will be marked tardy and you will need to sign them in.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our community safe and ensuring a smooth drop-off each day.

Reading Olympics Opportunity for 4th & 5th Grade
Do you enjoy reading lots of books? Are you in 4th or 5th grade? Are you goal-oriented? Can you read a book a week? Then Reading Olympics may be the club for you!
Reading Olympics is a county-wide competition where students have the opportunity to display their knowledge of popular books. The competition is fast-paced, exciting and challenging. It requires you to work collaboratively with your team so that the group has an in-depth knowledge of all the books on this year’s list. Each student will become an expert in certain books, and their teammates will rely on this knowledge during the competition. The competition is a celebration of reading and all participants are awarded ribbons. The Delaware County Reading Olympics competition will take place on an evening in early spring of 2025, with more details to follow later on in the year.
