From the Nurse
The nurse sent home a final reminder for any students requiring a referral due to failing the state mandated screenings done in the Fall (vision, spinal or type 2 diabetes screening). Also, reminders for all Immunizations due in January were sent home. The required vaccines are necessary for your child to continue to come to school.
Important Information:
Monday, January 20th is a school holiday and Dr. Martin Luther King day. Students return to school on Tuesday, January 21st.
Please do not park in the small lot next to the cafeteria. Those spots are reserved for our food service staff members only.
Morning drop off reminders for Car Riders. In the morning, our car rider line is open form 7:25 until 8:00 am. At 8:00 am the line is closed, and all parents are directed to the front office for drop off. The front office driveway opens to drop off up at 8 am.
For the safety of the campus, please do not park in fire zones in front of school. All fire zones are painted red and are located near the major entrances of the school. Cars parked in fire zones could be towed or ticketed. Please keep these areas clear for emergency vehicles.
Please make sure your child reads at least 30 minutes every night. Research says if a student reads every day for at least 20 minutes a day, they will hear 1.8 million words a year, and are more likely to score better than 90% of their peers. Our MPE PTA needs you! Show your support for our children by joining our PTA!
From the Principal
We all have been working hard getting back into the groove at school. Our Panthers came back to school ready to learn and got right back to work. Before the break, our children took some district level assessments, and the results indicate we have work to do. Our teachers have been meeting and analyzing the data to create lessons designed to help our children master the curriculum. Our Panther Learning Academy is about to start up next week as well. This academy is designed to help students within five points of each state assessment category move up to the next level. In addition, our Academic Support Team is working with teachers to provide additional support for our children.
As always, we all appreciate your support by making sure your child is reading, working on technology programs like Dream Box and I-station, coming to school prepared and ready to learn. In addition, please continue to communicate with your child's teachers so you know what children are learning about in the classroom. It takes all of us working together to achieve academic success.
Your Proud Principal,
Dr. Martinez
