Emerson Update 11/1/24
EMERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL MISSION
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE 11/1/24
Dear Emerson Families,
As we move forward in this academic year, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our students. Their efforts in the classroom are truly commendable, and their progress is a testament to their commitment to learning.
New Bag Policy
As a reminder, our new no-bag policy in the classroom is now in effect. We're proud of how well our students have adapted to this change. We'll continue to provide locker practice and organizational tips to help them manage their belongings effectively.
Attendance and Behavior
Regular and punctual attendance is a crucial factor in academic success. Please encourage your child to prioritize attending classes on time. If any challenges arise, please don't hesitate to reach out to us for support.
A positive and productive learning environment is essential for everyone. Please remind your child to be respectful to teachers and fellow students, and to maintain responsible behavior in the hallways.
Daylight Saving Time
Don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour this weekend as Daylight Saving Time ends. This simple adjustment will help your child stay on schedule and make the most of their time.
Upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences
We look forward to connecting with you during our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, November 7th.
- 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Virtual Only (By Appointment Only)
- 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM: In-Person (By Appointment Only)

Thank you for your time and support.
With Eagle Pride,
Bruce Rivera

Bag Policy
Benefits of New Bag Policy
Our new bag policy supports Emerson’s school vision by reinforcing S.O.A.R. expectations.
SAFE - By storing all bags in our lockers, we can reduce hallway and classroom congestion, tripping hazards, concealment of prohibited items, and physical peer to peer conflicts.
ORGANIZED - By storing all bags in our lockers, students will learn to travel to each of the six classes with scheduled stops to their locker to gather supplies.
ACCOUNTABLE - By storing all bags in our lockers, students will learn to be responsible, use their time wisely, and learn to plan and prepare accordingly for each class period.
RESPECTFUL - By storing all bags in our lockers, students will learn how to respect their belongings and learn boundaries in shared environments, promoting mutual respect among peers.
By November 11th, students who bring backpacks or drawstring bags to class will be asked to store them in their lockers.
We believe this policy will contribute to a safer and more focused learning environment for all students and staff.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to implement this change.
With Eagle Pride,
Bruce Rivera

This year, conferences will be held virtually (by PTCfast appointment) on Thursday, November 7th from 1pm - 4pm. and in-person (by PTCfast appointment) on Thursday, November 7th from 5pm - 8pm.
Families will need to register for ALL conferences (virtual or in-person) using the PTCfast website. This means families who prefer to attend our in-person conferences will still need to sign up for a specific time slot for each teacher they would like to meet. This is the same for our virtual conferences as well.
We do not allow drop in conferences.
Use the link below to sign up for the Emerson Middle School conferences:
Virtual conferences will be using Microsoft TEAMS. Please be sure you have this app or available on your desktop.
The sign up will close at 11:59pm on Monday, November 4.

🩺 Not Feeling Well? Here's a Checklist...
Student Handbook and Code of Conduct
Emerson Student Handbook & Code of Conduct
- This has been updated for the 2024-20254 school year.
- It can be accessed HERE.
- Please partner with us by reminding students that cell phones and electronics should be "AWAY FOR THE DAY"!
- All students must keep bags and backpacks in their lockers.
- We do not allow Hats and/or Hoodies to be worn during the school day.
A few key things to note:
The Livonia Parent Advisory Committee (LPAC) seeks parent representation from each Livonia Special Education Program. Parent representative volunteers have a child/children with a disability(ies). The LPAC also provides advisory input on matters regarding improvement of Special Education services within our school district.
Our Facebook page shares information of interest to our families and students.
Here, you will find electronic flyers for programs and events geared toward kids!
We hope that you enjoy the many offerings from around our great community!
If you have a program that you'd like to advertise, please email your flyer to Stacy Jenkins at sjenkins3@livoniapublicschools.org for approval. We follow a set of guidelines for approval and are only able to accept flyers for non-profit organizations that benefit our local children.
Enjoy!

If your student has a dream club in mind or if you'd like to be an awesome advisor, let us know! Joining a club is a great way to make new friends, learn new skills, and have a blast!
