- Important Senior Info - The deadline for senior photo submission is 3 pm Wednesday, October 2nd. Here’s all the info.
- Youth Congress is a project of the Douglas County Youth Initiative. Youth from around Douglas County get to weigh in on issues that affect youth and are of interest to youth. One of the missions of the Youth Congress is to communicate your thoughts, ideas, and solutions to elected and community leaders. Students, grades 9 – 12 are invited to attend Youth Congress, on October 7, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Colorado State Capitol, 200 E. Colfax Avenue, Denver, CO 80203. Youth Congress is an event where adult leaders work with youth on issues that affect the lives of Douglas County youth. Register Here.

- CAP AND GOWN MEETING DURING ADVISEMENT IN THE AUDITORIUM TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24TH.
On Thursday, September 12, the State Board of Education voted to revise the math cut-score for the Digital SAT from 500 to 480 on the graduation guidelines menu of options for students graduating in 2024-2025 and 2025-26. This change will positively impact approximately 5 - 7% of our current juniors and seniors.
Colleges
- Ready to apply to college? If you need a letter of recommendation or transcripts, all steps to request are located on the Post Grad website.
- Your first step will be to visit the college website to check for application requirements and/or to apply. You may be able to apply through Common App for many colleges.
- Some colleges utilize a Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR). This means they do not require transcripts (save your $3). Follow our guideline to enter CVHS courses here.
- Next, you will request transcripts and letters of recommendation (if required) through Naviance. Go to colleges I'm applying to > blue + to add colleges > request transcript. If you applied through Common App, match your account.
- You will pay for transcripts through MySchoolBucks BEFORE I can send anything. It's $3 per official transcript sent.
- The last step will be for students to email me or come see me to let me know everything you intend to send (transcript, letters of recommendation, if you applied through common app, etc.).
- We have lots of college reps visiting Castle View this fall. Reps visit to help students learn more about the college/university, but they are also usually the rep who reads your application and helps you with all steps of the application process. If you list a college in “college I’m applying to” or “colleges I’m thinking about” in Naviance, you will receive an e-mail notification about the visit as soon as it’s scheduled. If you don’t have colleges updated in Naviance, you will have to frequently visit Naviance or the College Visit calendar to check upcoming visits. You must register for each visit in Naviance and pick up your pass the morning of the visit.

CASFA
2025-26 Updates:
Could open December 1st (not set in stone yet)
Eligibility: Colorado application for state financial aid for Colorado ASSET students (non-US citizens); students who have lived in the US for 12 months before starting at college, attended a CO high school for 1 year before graduation. If student has a financial need, regardless of their ASSET status should complete CAFSA (even if not meeting the above criteria).
ASSET (Advancing Students for a Stronger Tomorrow)- will pay instate tuition at CO colleges/universities; can be awarded the Colorado Student Grant depending on financial need through completion of the CASFA.

The required tasks for all seniors are:
- Create/Update a Resume. If you need to create one, use this website. Otherwise, update your resume, download as a PDF and upload to Naviance.
- Complete AchieveWorks® Learning & Productivity assessment from 9th grade
- Complete Career Interest Profiler from 10th grade
- Identify 3 favorite careers
- Add colleges to my list
- Complete AchieveWorks® Skills from 11th grade
- Senior Credit Check With Counselor
- Create a 12th Grade Post-Secondary Workforce Goal. What do you want to do after high school?
Use the Naviance tool "SuperMatch college search" under the colleges tab. This tool allows students to search for specific interests and narrow down their college options. Students can then make a list of their appropriate choices.
Scholarships
- The $2,000 Nitro Scholarship Sweepstakes ends at 11:59:59 PM ET on September 30th. Apply today.
- The Daniels Scholarship Program provides a four-year annually renewable college scholarship for graduating high school seniors from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming who demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, and a commitment to serving their communities. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need. Students can apply online and find comprehensive information including eligibility requirements, selection criteria, and selection timeline. The online application closes October 18, 2024.
- The Veterans of Foreign Wars is dedicated to promoting patriotism and investing in our future generation. If you are a democracy-loving high school student interested in a $35,000 college scholarship, the Voice of Democracy Scholarship may be for you. All student entries must be submitted to a sponsoring local VFW Post by midnight, Oct. 31. The 2024-25 theme is: Is America Today Our Forefathers' Vision?
- The General Conference Department of Women's Ministries (GC WM) scholarship program is established to give scholarships to women who are committed to serving the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church who would otherwise be unable to afford a Christian education. Scholarship awards are based on academic achievement, financial need, and community outreach. Specific amounts of scholarship awards vary each year and are dependent on the amount of funds available. Scholarships may only be obtained through your home divisions. Deadline for submitting your application to your division Women's Ministries directors is October 31.
- The Elks 2025 Most Valuable Student (MVS) scholarships are available only to high school seniors. Applications are judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. The deadline to apply is November 12th, 2024. Visit the website to apply.
- To be eligible to be named for any of the NACME administered scholarships students must be a senior applying to an engineering or computer science program at a NACME Partner Institution, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. NACME's mission is to increase representation of Black/African American, Latinx/Hispanic-American and Native/American Indian in the fields of engineering and computer science. Click here to apply.
- Since its inception, White Rose Scholarship Foundation, a program of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire, has awarded more than $350,000 to deserving applicants pursuing their college education. The WRSF is a community service based scholarship; the applicant must be involved in one or more community service activities. Applications are available on the website. Completed applications must be postmarked by January 31st.
