A message from the Executive Director
Dear GLOBE families,
At The GLOBE Academy, our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students, their families, and our staff. We are dedicated to maintaining a secure and positive learning environment every day.
As a part of that commitment, and in an effort to keep our families informed with timely and accurate information, we are writing to share a situation that was reported to us this evening about a threat related to Upper Campus. Based on your feedback, even though this does not pertain to Lower Campus, we are sending this to the whole community for transparency and awareness.
School staff were notified about a threatening message on a student group chat. As all threats are taken seriously, school administrators and DeKalb County School District (DCSD) Public Safety are following district security protocols to assess the threat level of this incident and identify the individual(s) responsible. Per the established DCSD protocols and safety guidelines, school will remain open tomorrow.
While I cannot provide specifics, I can confirm that out of an abundance of caution, an additional SRO (School Resource Officer) will be present on and around Upper Campus tomorrow. When we hear any additional information from DCSD Public Safety, we will communicate back to you.
As we continue investigating this incident, please remember that any violations of DeKalb County School District’s 2024-2025 Code of Student Conduct and applicable laws will be addressed appropriately with all parties involved.
We ask for the support of our families and community partners in addressing these concerns by having open and honest conversations with your children and other young people you know about the importance of following school rules and understanding the consequences of unsafe behaviors. We also ask you to exercise caution when sharing official school communications on social networks as we cannot guarantee the audience of such groups, which may include members no longer affiliated with our school.
Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and partnership in maintaining a safe and a supportive environment for all our students, families, and staff. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need further assistance.
In partnership and service,
Christi Elliott-Earby
Executive Director
