Student Activities - Special Days planned by Student Council
Remembrance Day
Our Student Council is hard at work planning this year’s Remembrance Day ceremony, which will take place on November 11. This special event will honour the sacrifices of those who served in the military and commemorate the importance of peace. The ceremony will include student-led presentations and moments of reflection, giving our school community the opportunity to pay tribute and learn more about the significance of this day. We invite everyone to join us as we come together to remember and reflect.
Christmas Baskets
Our annual Christmas food drive will be starting during the week of November 4th. You will be able to send non-perishable items to school that will be used to garnish our Christmas baskets. To encourage donations, we are setting a few goals to reach along the way. Each goal met will be accompanied by a fun activity for all our students. If your family is in need of a Christmas basket, please send an email to Ms.Jeannik at bachandj@etsb.qc.ca
Wellness Day
We are organizing a Wellness Day on Friday, November 22, 2024. This activity is for all students and staff. More information to come. We are looking forward to it!
Geordie Productions
On November 29th at 10:10 am Geordie Productions will be coming to ADS to perform The Velveteen Rabbit by Jimmy Blais which is a play that captures the journey of Riley, who, after moving to a new home, receives a plush rabbit offering comfort and sparking imaginative adventures. The following year, Riley gets an AI assistant, Lexa, leading them into exciting digital escapades. This introduces a conflict between the comforting, imaginative world with the Velveteen Rabbit and the thrilling digital adventures with Lexa, highlighting the themes of emotional connections and the balance between reality and technology.
Daycare
We have 2 Planning Days coming up for daycare in November – here's what to expect:
November 14 - we will be walking to Burbank then returning to make each our own homemade pizza for lunch. Please make sure snacks & water bottles are sent on this day!
November 15 - Educazoo will be visiting our school to teach us about some of their animals & be able to interact with them.
Please sign up before November 8, 2024 Johnstonk@edu.etsb.qc.ca -it's open to all students!
Moozoom
The grade 3-6 students are learning about Respect and Consideration. Please see the parent letter with tips and tricks and how you can help your child to face their anxiety.
When students log into Moozoom, they let us know how they are feeling, making sure that we have quick access to those who may need more support managing their feelings.
ADS Governing Board
Our next Governing Board Meeting will be on November 7th.
Happenings.....
1st Term Report Card : Your child's first term reports will be made available on the MOZAïK Portal on November 13th. As indicated previously, report cards are now issued electronically and are accessible through the parent portal. Reminder instructions in how to use the parent portal are available on the school website
Parent/Teacher Conferences:
This year they will be held on Tuesday, November 13th from 2:45 to 7:00 p.m. Please check your child’s school bag for the sign-up sheet (will be sent home November 4th).
November 13, 2024 - 1st Report on Portal
November 13, 2024 - Parent/Teacher Conferences (all grades in person)
School Photos: The school photos forms will be sent home as soon as we get them. Please refer to the instructions to order. Please note that you get a free copy of the class picture with each order. If you want a second copy, then you need to select it on the order form. We will send deadline information in a follow-up email.
Healthy Practices :We must remind you that a sick student (fever, gastro, flu, etc.) should not come to school. The student should stay home until feeling able to attend regular classes. In case of an accident or sudden illness occurring during school hours, parents will be notified and should take charge of their child as soon as possible. Parents are always the main responsible persons for their child. In the best interest of our students, it is essential that emergency contact information be provided and be updated whenever there are modifications. If a taxi or ambulance is needed, the charge will have to be paid by the parents.
School Fees: Please note that school fees are due to be paid. In order to have your tax receipt issued, fees must be paid prior to December 31st. Your child’s invoice can be found on the Mozaïk parent portal. If you have any questions, please contact the office. If you are sending the payment with your child, please make sure it is in a sealed envelope with his/her name and reason (ex: daycare, school fees) clearly indicated.
Website: Be sure to bookmark our new website.
