Happy Friday, Wy'east!

Greetings, Wy'east Middle School!

We ended the school day today with our Trimester 2 Awards Assembly. It is time to celebrate our successes of the second trimester and build upon them to finish the year strong. One way to do that is with regular attendance. Thank you for making sure that your child attends school every day to set them up for success. Spring break starts today. There is no school next week March 24-March 28. We return to school on Monday March 31.

April is a full month. We start with state testing. The first week will be the Science test for our 8th graders only. The week of April 7 will be English Language Arts and Math for the whole school. We will run a special schedule that week. We appreciate you talking with your child to take their time and do their best. Giving their best effort is the most important thing to help us learn our strengths and opportunities as a school community! Then, just after state testing, our 6th graders will be heading to Outdoor School the week of April 14 at Camp Gray in Newport, Oregon.

Over the break we encourage our learners to keep up their habit of reading 30 minutes daily. We have included the information to access Clever again in this newsletter for your reference.

¡Saludos, Escuela Intermedia Wy'east!

Terminamos el día escolar hoy con nuestra Asamblea de Premios del Segundo Trimestre. Es hora de celebrar nuestros éxitos del segundo trimestre y aprovecharlos para terminar el año con fuerza. Una forma de hacerlo es con la asistencia regular. Gracias por asegurarse de que su hijo/a asista a la escuela todos los días para prepararlo para el éxito. Las vacaciones de primavera comienzan hoy. No hay clases la próxima semana del 24 al 28 de marzo. Regresamos a clases el lunes 31 de marzo.

Abril es un mes completo. Comenzamos con los exámenes estatales. La primera semana será el examen de Ciencias solo para nuestros alumnos de 8.º grado. La semana del 7 de abril será de Lengua y Literatura Inglesas y Matemáticas para toda la escuela. Tendremos un horario especial esa semana. Agradecemos que hablen con su hijo/a para que se tome su tiempo y se esfuerce al máximo. ¡Dar su máximo esfuerzo es lo más importante para ayudarnos a reconocer nuestras fortalezas y oportunidades como comunidad escolar! Justo después de los exámenes estatales, nuestros alumnos de 6.º grado asistirán a la Escuela al Aire Libre la semana del 14 de abril en el Campamento Gray en Newport, Oregón.

Durante las vacaciones, animamos a nuestros alumnos a mantener el hábito de leer 30 minutos diarios. En este boletín, incluimos la información para acceder de nuevo a Clever.

We are excited to begin regular visits from the public library. Once a month, the teen librarian will visit (1st Friday), and once a month the bookmobile will visit (3rd Friday). This is a chance for students to have access to more books! Students can check out items with a public library card during lunches. If your student does not have a public library card, you can sign them up here*!

Nos entusiasma comenzar las visitas regulares de la biblioteca pública. Una vez al mes, la bibliotecaria juvenil visitará la biblioteca (el primer viernes) y una vez al mes, el bibliobús (el tercer viernes). ¡Esta es una oportunidad para que los estudiantes tengan acceso a más libros! Pueden sacar libros prestados con su tarjeta de la biblioteca pública durante los almuerzos. Si su estudiante no tiene tarjeta de la biblioteca pública, ¡puede inscribirlo aquí!*

Our next Wy'east PTO meeting is Tuesday April 8. It will be at the Wy'east library. A special invite our to our 8th grade parents to come and join us to help start planning for our 8th Grade Promotion Dance in June.
