Principal's Message
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible team of educators we have here at SFiAM.
Our teachers are caring, dedicated, and deeply committed to the success of every student. Teaching is no easy taskโit means managing 25โ30 different student personalities and needs in a single classroom, while also meeting the expectations of 25โ30 different families. Some of our teachers do this six times a day with six different groups of students!
Many arrive early, stay late, spend their own money on classroom supplies, and go above and beyond to create meaningful learning experiences.
Please join me in thanking our amazing teachers for everything they do to support, guide, and inspire our students every day. A kind word, a note of appreciation, or even a simple โthank youโ can go a long way.
Teacher Appreciation Week
First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt started the first national program to recognize American teachers in 1953, though the official moniker of US Teacher Appreciation Day or Week was not coined until the 1980s. When is Teacher Appreciation Day? Celebrated during the first full week of May, the celebratory week surrounds Teacher Appreciation Day, a single day, usually a Tuesday, in the week chosen to honor educators.
Classroom Spotlight: Learning in Action!
Now Enrolling for the 2025-2026 School Year
SFiAM is now enrolling for the 2025โ2026 school year!
If you know a family who might be interested, please encourage them to fill out our interest form, stop by our office, or give us a call at (818) 837-5455.
No appointment is needed for a tour โ weโre always happy to make time to show families around!
At SFiAM, we pride ourselves on offering a welcoming environment and programs designed to meet the needs of every student.
Report Cards
Keep an eye out for your childโs progress reportโthis is the final one before semester grades are issued. You can always call the office or stop by if you would like a copy printed for you.
We encourage you to sit down with your child and check their Schoology account together to make sure all assignments have been submitted.
If you have any questions or concerns, please donโt hesitate to reach out to Ms. Ortiz, our academic counselor, or your childโs teacher. Weโre here to support you every step of the way!
Emergency Drill Practice โ This Week
This week, weโll be practicing how to respond to an emergency that requires evacuation when students are not in classโan important part of ensuring everyoneโs safety. We will be practicing evacuating to the field after lunch on Monday and Wednesday.
To make the drill a little more engaging, weโll be recognizing the advisory class that is most prepared and organized each day with a small prize!
We kindly ask for your help reminding your child:
๐ If there is ever a fire alarm or real emergency while they are not in a class, they should go directly to the field and sit with their advisory class.
While we hope to never face a real emergency, practicing these procedures helps all of us stay ready. Thank you for your continued support in making safety a top priority at SFiAM!
Testing Continues This Week!
State Testing Continues โ Week 2!
This is a continued opportunity for students to show all they have learned throughout the school year.
To help them do their best, please make sure your child is well-rested, eats a good breakfast, and is at school every day.
We are here to support every student and make this a positive and low-stress experience.
Remember, every child is on their own unique academic journey, and we are proud of each and every one of them!

Here's What's Happening In Advisory This Week!
Advisory class is a special time for students to learn how to make positive choices and navigate the many challenges of middle school life.
This week, our discussions will focus on friendships, family culture, and what it means to be part of a group. These conversations help students better understand themselves and the people around them as they grow and learn together.
Thank you for supporting these important moments of reflection and connection!
