Genius Hour Movement
Have you ever wanted some time to learn something new? Mrs.Vetrick's 5th grade ELA students had the opportunity to participate in Genius Hour over the past few weeks. Genius Hour is a movement that allows students to explore their own passions and encourages creativity in the classroom. It provides students a choice in what they learn during a set period of time during school.
Students spent time creating a variety of presentations including posters, models, demonstrations, slide shows and websites. Some of the 75 Genius Hour projects included topics such as the history of the NFL, how to show a cow at the fair, fishing, dog training, italian culture, how to bake a cake, snowboarding, fencing, national parks and even how to animate.
Not only did the students learn more about a topic they were interested in, but they then taught their classmates what they learned. It was a great opportunity to learn more about our world!
