Welcome back to another great year at Tipton Elementary School!

We have begun servicing our students for Tier II and Tier III Reading Intervention. As a Title I school we provide Reading Intervention to all students who qualify. The mission of Title I is to provide a continuum of services and resources to Title I districts that enrich curriculum and instruction, promote interaction and coordination of supplementary services and resources, and result in excellence and high expectations for educators and students.

Wow! The T.E.S. Family has a lot to be proud of this week!

Thank you to all of the families who participated in the Fall Fundraiser! Our students and families were able to raised $15,000 for our school! The Little Lamb Fundraising Company will announce to us a pick-up and distribution date sometime next week. An enormous THANK YOU and JOB WELL DONE to our students and families! Your efforts will make a difference at T.E.S.!

Thank you to the T.E.S. families who attended our annual T.E.S.O. Family Movie Night! The event was a huge success, and it was rewarding seeing our T.E.S. students, families, and staff enjoy an evening of fun together. A huge thank you to our volunteers and staff members who made the event possible. We also greatly appreciate the kindness shown by Adam and Jena Crouch Family & Crouch Meat Company for the use of their concession trailer! We hope you will join us again next year!

Any current 4-H or FFA member in grades 3-12 that is interested in the crops judging team should come to the first practice on Monday, Oct 3, from 3:15-4:00pm in Hartley's room at THS. The crops team identifies crops and weeds(both seeds and plants, plant diseases and pests, as well as planting and harvesting equipment. If you are interested but unable to attend, please contact Mrs. Hartley to get information!

"My Closet" (A New Clothing Pantry)

What Is “My Closet”?

“My Closet” is a clothing pantry where Tipton Community School Corporation and partners in the community come together to provide new, name brand clothes free of charge to students in need. Students who attend Tipton Community School Corporation are allowed to “shop” for a jacket, shirt, pants, socks, underwear and receive a haircut certificate from “Absolutely You” Salon. Students may “shop” one time each semester. Everything is free, and parents do not need to meet strict income guidelines. The only requirement is the parents / guardians feel the student needs a new outfit and they cannot afford to buy one. All students in grades Pre-K through Seniors in high school are eligible.

How Do I Set Up An Appointment?

Anyone wanting to schedule an appointment to “shop” should contact Mrs. Schultz, Program Director by calling 317-677-3477 or 675-7521 ext. 2235. (These are new numbers, the old one will not work).

Winter Coats Available in October

Winter coats, hats and gloves are available beginning October 17th. Students in need of a coat are able to get one at no cost. They are limited to one each school year. Contact Mrs. Schultz to set up a time to “shop” for a coat.

How Is “My Closet” Funded?

“My Closet” is funded by the generous people of Tipton County and others throughout Indiana. Funds come from local churches, businesses, philanthropic groups and individuals who want to help families that are struggling financially. These donors have joined TCSC in the belief that every child deserves to have a new outfit, good shoes and a warm winter coat. Not only are clothes a basic necessity, but a new outfit can help boost self-esteem.

Jubilee Christmas

Applications for Jubilee Christmas are available through Mrs. Schultz beginning October 1st. To obtain an application for help at Christmas, please contact Mrs. Schultz at 675-7521 ext. 2235 or 317-677-3477.

Students will start entering the elementary at 7:40am. If you are bringing a student to TES, you will drop them off at the front of the building. If you have students that attend both the middle school and the elementary, you will drop them off and pick them up at the elementary.

This is just a reminder that children of all ages should be properly restrained by a safety belt at all times while in the car rider line during arrival and dismissal. As always, safety is our top priority, and this includes all in the vehicle.

Any time you send a note from home about your child, please include his/her first and last name on the note. Thanks in advance!

This year, we have implemented the following parameters around homework:

• Kindergarten: 10 minutes per night
• Grades 1-2: 20 minutes per night
• Grades 3-5: 30 minutes per night

These minutes are the maximum your child should have per night. If you are noticing that your child is spending more than this number on a consistent basis, please make your child's teacher aware. Open communication between home and school is a key component in working together for student success.

More detailed information about the October lesson will be in next week's newsletter. The lesson will focus on kindness, and it will take place in Ms. Carter's room during library special from October 17-28.
