Week In Review and A Look Ahead
October 4, 2024
Notes from the Principal
Our 7th grade field trip is in the books! The students had a blast at the Renaissance Faire and I hope you enjoy the pictures below. I apologize for the delayed return from the trip and thank our parents/guardians for their flexibility and understanding, as well as the teachers for the significant amount of time and effort that went into planning and executing this trip.
Our first dance last Friday went smoothly and kudos are warranted for our Student Council and their efforts. I appreciate our families following our pick-up procedures, and now that our new 6th grade families have experienced the routine, each time will get smoother like it did last year. It is not an easy task to have 418 students picked up at the same time considering our limited space, but we were able to have everyone safely headed home by 9:30PM. Our next dance is the Halloween Dance on October 25th.
A regular feature that will appear at the end of each WIR is a Student Council suggestion box. Students may submit a suggestion in the Student Council Digital Suggestion Box if they have any ideas or suggestions about Bear-A-Thon, dances, spirit days and more! Thank you and we're looking forward to hearing your creative ideas!
Health/Business Changes
Friday, October 4th is the last day that 8th grade students have Health or Business for this trimester. Those students will change to the "other" class on Monday, October 7th, for the remainder of the trimester.
On Wednesday, October 9th, 6th and 7th graders in Health and Business will shift to the "other" class.
Student Council Pink Out
Student Council is hosting a “Pink Out” on Friday, October 11th. Wear pink to support breast cancer awareness. Regular school dress code still applies. Hats, sunglasses, and face paint are not permitted as well as any props.
Student Support Groups
Boyertown’s Student Assistance Program offers a wide variety of psycho-educational support groups to help students learn to cope effectively with many common barriers to their educational success. These are OPTIONAL curriculum-based and skill-building groups that allow students to gain strength and understanding in a confidential setting from peers and provides them with the tools necessary to thrive despite challenges.
Groups typically last for 30 minutes in duration, once a week, for about eight weeks. The groups are facilitated by a Student Assistance Program Specialist from Caron Treatment Centers, Mrs. Briana Fretz. These groups do need require parent/ guardian permission before students can attend. If students are interested, they will have the opportunity starting Oct. 1st to complete an interest survey in their REACH google classroom. If you have any questions or would like to see your child participate in an upcoming group, please reach out to the counseling office.
Music Fundraiser
Attention Music Families: With the cancellation of our Band Cavalcade fundraiser due to weather, we will need to focus on supporting our remaining fundraisers throughout the year! Orders for the Divine Apples Fundraiser are due on October 16th, with order pick-up scheduled for October 25th from 5:30-6:30pm at the High School Football Stadium Concession Stand.
