PAW PRINTS
News from Winfield Elementary: October 25, 2024
From the Principals, Mrs. Alonzo & Mrs. Hall
Dear Families,
Thank you for your tremendous support last month with the Fun Run! Our students exceeded the schoolwide goal of $15,000 and earned the opportunity to turn the principals into "human sundaes"!
On Friday, we randomly chose 10 students from each grade to take a turn covering the principals with chocolate/strawberry/caramel sauce, whipped cream, marshmallows, sprinkles, and cookie bits. The teachers and staff got the last laugh topping us off with cherries. It was a memorable event for all! Check out our Facebook page for even more pictures!

Red Ribbon Week is October 28th-30th
Red Ribbon Week was developed in 1988 to promote an awareness of the dangers of alcohol and other drugs. This special week honors the memory of Enrique Camarena, a DEA agent who gave his life in the fight against drugs. People across the country wanted to honor his dedication to stopping illegal drugs in America, so we display Red Ribbons as a symbol of intolerance toward the use of drugs and a commitment toward a drug-free America.
Monday, 10/28: School Pride Day - At Winfield Elementary, we are ALL committed to standing up and speaking out against bullying and doing drugs!
Students and staff can wear blue, showing our dedication to being bully-free OR red/Red Ribbon t-shirt, showing our dedication to being drug-free.
Tuesday, 10/29: It’s Crazy to Bully! It’s Cray to Do Drugs!
Students and staff can dress “crazy”...have fun and be creative! (Some ideas: mismatched clothes, socks, shoes, funny hairstyles, backwards clothing)
Wednesday, 10/30: Put Bullying and Drugs to Bed!
Students and staff can wear their pajamas to school. All pajamas must be appropriate and follow the dress code. Shoes must be worn.

Students in grades 6+ are welcome to attend with their parents, but we ask that you consider whether the content and length of the presentation would be best for your elementary children.

Attendance letters for students who have missed 6 or more days of school were mailed home today. These attendance letters are sent to all students, regardless of reason for the absence once students have accrued 6 and 10 absences within the semester.
