Principal's Message (June)
Dear Whitney families,
As the school year for our students has come to an end, I wish to take this opportunity to express my deep appreciation and gratitude to each one of you.
Globally this has been one of the most challenging years and more so in education as we navigated our way around post pandemic challenges. I must commend our amazing students who displayed incredible resilience during this time. They have certainly surprised us in how well they adapted to learning in this fashion. They have shown maturity in the face of so many challenges, including successfully completing this school year.
This achievement would not have been possible without the commitment and support from the parents. You have gone way beyond our expectations and your dedication has been one of the reasons we have been so successful. Your constant support and feedback have allowed us to constantly improve and maintain our excellent standards throughout the year.
Thank you for trusting us to provide teaching and learning to your child this year. It has indeed been an honor and privilege. As teachers we are delighted at the progress our students have made and are assured that they leave our class as more knowledgeable and independent learners. Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication throughout this time. We have felt your constant and consistent commitment behind the scenes.
Congratulations to you as parents on a job well done! Thank you for the outstanding job you have done this year thank you for choosing Whitney Avenue to share in your family’s growth
We look forward to seeing most students at Summer Camp on the 13th of June, but to those who will not be returning, I would like to wish you wonderful and safe summer vacation.
Thank you so much, may you have a wonderful holiday, and Happy Eid to all of you
Kind Regards,
Christina Allison

Parking Lot Safety
Please remember, there is no parking in the drop off lane, so please pull all the way up to the front of the drop off lane (by the front of the school), drop your child off (parents/drivers need stay in the car) and then you may keep moving.
If you arrive early and don't want to let your child out yet, please park in a parking spot in the parent lot until ready to drop off.
During dismissal we also ask you to please pull all the way up in the drop off/pick up lane and do not leave your car unless you are parked in a designated parking spot.t
Driving in our Parking Lot
Please remember to drive with caution as you enter and exit our school parking lots. The traffic flow at all schools is slow and that is the safest for our kids.
Please try not to be in a hurry when dropping off and picking up your children. We have noticed some drivers who have not been driving cautiously and we need to be safe with our children, families, and staff all around.
*You must slow down and drive with caution.
Crosswalks and Sidewalks
Please also remember to always use the crosswalks and sidewalks. It becomes unsafe when children and parents walk in and out of cars in the parking lots or when children run through the lot unattended. The crosswalks and sidewalks are the safest areas to use when walking in the parking lots.
Thank you for helping to keep everyone safe.
Respecting Staff Parking Lot Attendants
Please respect the staff who are helping aid in parking lot safety. There job is to keep everyone safe. At times they may ask you to follow certain rules you may not agree with. Please do not take it personal. They are doing their jobs. The goal is to keep you, your children, and everyone safe. Thank you for understanding.
Respecting Each Other, School Safeties, and School Staff
Parents, we know that families are in a hurry but the safety of our students, community, and staff is most important. Please be cautious and also be respectful to each other as parents, our student safeties and our staff. We ask that you refrain from confronting each other with issues. Please do your best to respect each other as parents and as a Wildcat community. If you have any questions or concerns you may reach out to our office team.
*Additionally, when communicating with all school staff and families, we ask for all parents and or guardians to conduct themselves in a calm and patient manner.
Please be aware that CHP will be stopping by occasionally to monitor traffic in an effort to keep our students safe. The biggest issues that CHP has report to site administration are as follows:
*speeding-reminder when students are present, speed limit is 25 MPH
*picking up your students along Eastern Avenue is not permitted. Follow road signage.
*the bus loop area is for busses only
*the Whitney Ave. parking lot for pick-ups/drops tends to have more room allowing cars to not be on Eastern Ave.
*as always parents are requested to pick up their children on campus and not at neighboring businesses. We do not provide supervision off campus.
Finally, for the safety of all students we ask that you are only on campus 5 minutes prior to pick up. Gates will be open in the back at 11:40am for Kinder and 2:10 for 1st-5th. If you enter through the front, please make sure you stay in the front near the office until 11:40am (kinder) and 2:10 (M, T, W, F) or 12:55 (Thurs) for dismissal.
Similarly, gates will be closed and locked by 7:50am in the morning, and 12:00pm in the afternoon. We want to keep all out students safe. If you arrive later you can come around to the front. We really appreciate your support!!

Superintendent's Parent Advisory Committee (SPAC)
Who are SPAC members?
Each school principal selects a member of their parent community to represent the school at SPAC meetings. The only requirement is that you are a current parent at the school you represent. Selections are made in the first few weeks of school. If you have an interest in serving on the SPAC, please speak with your school principal as soon as possible.
What do SPAC members commit to?
Members of SPAC should attend each scheduled meeting. Depending on the members' preferences, meetings may be held three to four times a year. Members are also responsible for taking the information shared at SPAC meetings back to their school site to share with staff and other parents.
