Getting Ready for the SBA
Students in grades 3-5 take the SBA assessment in the spring to see how they are performing on grade level standards. We use this data to guide our instruction in the classroom.
Can you help with Multicultural Night?
Hello Families!
Would your child like to shine on the stage? Does your child enjoy performing for an audience? We will have a poetry reading room at our Multicultural Night and are looking for students that would like to participate. Multicultural Night is Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 5:00-7:30 at the Hockinson Heights Elementary School.
The Poetry Reading opportunity is open to all TK-5th grade students. The time limit for each reading is two minutes. We would love to encourage students to read poems from around the world and invite multilingual students to read a poem in a language other than English.
To sign up, have your child select a poem and fill out this google form: https://forms.gle/ttmwNJNmADnbGPMXA
If you have questions, please email: es.multiculturalnight@hocksd.org
Sincerely,
The Multicultural Team
Are you interested in being a Lunch Buddy?
A HUGE thank you to those of you who signed up! We will be in contact with you after spring break to begin our Lunch Buddy program.
We would like to begin a Lunch Buddy program at HHES. You might be asking what is a Lunch Buddy? A Lunch Buddy is someone to eat with, someone to talk to, someone to listen to, someone to laugh with and someone a child can depend on to be there for them. Most neighboring school districts have this program at their schools and this would be a wonderful way for our students to connect with our Hockinson community.
A Lunch Buddy can be anyone who is willing to donate one hour of their time once a week to connect with a student during their lunch and recess time. We can be flexible to best meet the needs of both the student and adult. Please let us know if you are interested by completing the interest form below.
You can also email Bess Colpron at bess.colpron@hocksd.org or call our office to let us know you are interested.
