A few words from Mrs. Martin...
Thank you for all of your support in the PTO Fall Fundraiser! This was a new event that was very successful. The students had great time onThursday. I appreciate all of the parents that worked so hard to organize everything and make certain the day went smoothly. I will be able to provide a more accurate total next week for all donations received.
Enjoy the weekend!

Upcoming Events:
The week Ahead:
Wednesday: We will celebrate Mass at 8:30. All are welcome.
Friday: 8th Grade Day of Service at Sacred Heart Southern Missions
Looking Ahead:
October 4 is the Feast of St. Francis. We will celebrate a special Mass at 8:30. St. Francis of Assisi was a kind man from Italy who lived during the 13th century and loved nature and animals. He started a religious order called the Franciscans, which taught people to be humble and help others. He even wrote a beautiful song called "Canticle of the Sun," where he thanked all of creation for its wonders!
Families may bring their pets through the afternoon carline to receive a special blessing from Fr. David.

The Importance of Saving and Preparing for College When Your Child Is Young
Planning for your child’s college education early is one of the most significant financial decisions you can make as a parent. While college may seem far off when your child is still young, starting early offers substantial benefits that ease the financial burden later on.
1. Compounding Interest Adds Up
Starting a college savings fund when your child is still in their early years allows you to take full advantage of compound interest. Over time, even small, regular contributions to a 529 college savings plan or another investment vehicle can grow significantly. The longer your money has to grow, the more interest it earns, and in turn, the interest itself starts to earn interest.
2. College Costs Are Rising
The cost of higher education continues to rise every year, with tuition, fees, and other expenses growing at a faster rate than inflation. The earlier you start saving, the more prepared you’ll be to handle these increasing costs. By spreading out contributions over a longer period, you can avoid scrambling to come up with a large sum at the last minute.
3. Reduce Debt for Your Child
Without sufficient savings, many students and families rely heavily on loans to cover college expenses. This can saddle young adults with significant debt as they enter the workforce, potentially affecting their financial future for years to come. By saving early, you can help reduce the need for loans and give your child a better start after graduation.
4. Less Stress and More Flexibility
Having a college savings plan in place provides peace of mind. You can approach your child’s education with confidence, knowing that you’ve already laid the groundwork. Early preparation also gives you flexibility to adjust your contributions over time, based on your financial situation or changes in education plans.
5. Encourages a Culture of Financial Planning
By starting early, you also set an example for your child. They see the importance of saving and planning for the future, helping them develop good financial habits from an early age.
For Mississippi residents, consider options like Mississippi’s Affordable College Savings (MACS) plan. Learn more here.
Tennessee residents can explore the TNStars College Savings 529 program, which offers similar tax advantages and flexible options. More details can be found at TNStars.
In conclusion, saving and preparing for college when your child is young can significantly reduce financial stress in the future. With time on your side, even modest contributions can lead to substantial savings that ease the burden of rising education costs. Starting now will give both you and your child a stronger financial foundation for the years ahead.
