PTA Meeting
We'll be reviewing routine PTA business, and then hosting a panel on youth sports. Have questions about year-round swimming options, or travel vs rec soccer? This is your chance to hear from parents who have been there and done that! Join us in-person or by Zoom. We will have food for those attending in-person, so plan to arrive by 6:45 for dinner and a chance to chat with people who have not been in your house for 10 days straight!
Tuesday, Jan 7, 2025, 07:00 PM
Flora M. Singer Elementary School, Hayden Drive, Silver Spring, MD, USA
RSVPs are enabled for this event.
Sign Up and Save the Date for International Night: 22 Feb 2025
This year’s Singer International Night will be held on February 22, 2025! This event is where the Singer community gets to show off its vibrant colors – families set up tables representing different countries with artifacts, books, games, food samples, traditional clothing, language, music, etc., and performers from around the globe provide entertainment. Kids get a ‘passport’ as they ‘travel’ around the world, going from table to table to learn about the different cultures and checking off the countries they have visited.
***New this year*** The PTA will support each table host with a stipend of up to $25 to cover expenses for their display. Instructions for reimbursement will be provided when you sign up.
If you would like to show off your heritage, or just a place that is dear to your heart or where you may have lived before, please sign up using the button below.
International Night is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our diversity and teach and learn about the different cultures represented here!
More Upcoming Events
Upcoming Dine-Out: January 15th at Parkway Deli (4-9pm)
Dine-outs are a delicious way to support the PTA. Each month, we host "Dine Out" events in partnership with local businesses as a way to get out and have fun with other Singer families while supporting the PTA at the same time.
Next Dine-Out: Parkway Deli, 15 January 2025 from 4-9PM (Dine-In only)
Location: 8317 Grubb Road, Silver Spring
Ethopian Eritrean Special Needs Community (EESNC) Information Session: January 30th
We are in the process of scheduling an in-person information session on January 30th for Amharic-speaking parents with the Ethiopian Eritrean Special Needs Community (EESNC). Please save the date and look for updates in upcoming Sea Turtle Times and PTA Newsletter.
Singer PTA Auction: March 7th
The PTA Auction is the biggest fundraiser of the year, as well as a social event for parents. This event benefits from a large number of volunteers, so please click the link below if you are interested in participating, either during the planning phase or at the event itself.
Stay tuned for updates, and reach out to Catherine Gannon or Hillary Geldner directly with questions!
Singer Staff Gifts
Thanks to all for your generosity and to Beth Angerman's tireless efforts to make the holidays a little bit magical for the Singer staff, bus drivers, and KAH community! Between the two fundraisers, we were able to give $80 gift cards to Singer staff, $30 to bus drivers, and distribute $3000 across the KAH staff.
Winter After-School Activities
Has your child talked about starting a hot cocoa stand? Do they show magic tricks to their family and friends whenever they get the chance? Are they curious about becoming a veterinarian? Perhaps they're interested in coding and developing video games? And, maybe they enjoy making art - through painting or pottery, or both!
There are after-school activities for each of these kids! (And several more!) There are 19 different offerings available during the winter session! Click the link below to see the program options and register.
New to Kiddo? Check out the guide as well as flyers for our vendors.
Winter Schedule: PTA Meetings, STEM Fair, and More!
We have a number of spring events that require significant volunteer support. Volunteer roles can be limited to a few hours on the day of the event, or closer work with the relevant committee. These are a great opportunity to get involved and get to know more of the Singer community.
