We Are Better Together!
Greetings Kindergarten Families
We had a busy week learning together! Don't forget to sign up for Parent/Teacher Conferences -- they will be held on Thursday, October 10 from 4pm - 8pm and Friday, October 11 from 8am - Noon. A sign up Genius has been sent home by your teacher. We look forward to meeting with you to share your child's progress!
Following are some important reminders to keep in mind for this school year:
- School hours are 7:20-3:05. If you are dropping your child off after 7:20, please park in the front parking lot and sign your child in at the front office. If you are arriving after 3:30pm for pickup, please park in the front parking lot and walk to the office with your car tag.
- Transportation changes need to go through the office. Please call 972-617-3523 before 2:00 pm for any transportation changes.
- Contacting your child's teacher: If you call or email your child's teacher, they will respond within 24 hours as our focus during the day is your students.
- Lunch with your student: Parents/guests are only allowed to come to the campus on Fridays to eat lunch with your child. Please see the letter that is being sent home with your student for details.
- Birthday treats: Birthday treats will only be served on Fridays. Please see the letter being sent home with your student for details.
Trunk or Treat is coming!
Trunk or Treat will be held on Tuesday, October 22 along with the Book Fair. Candy donations are much appreciated; please send to school no later than Friday, October 18. We look forward to seeing you there!

The Book Fair will be held from October 21 - October 25 and will be open during Trunk or Treat!
What We Are Learning
ELAR
We are learning how to write using complete sentences and the comprehension skill using illustrations to gain understanding and inferencing.
Math
We will finish our unit on 'more than, less than' and move into Joining and Separating sets.
Social Studies and Science
Social Studies: We will learn about being a good citizen

Ideas for Learning at Home
Read, Read, Read
Read with your child every day. Have your child count the number of words in a sentence. Ask them where the sentence begins and where it ends. Eye spy our sight word of the week: the.
Math activities
Compare two sets of items (small toys, pennies, marshmallows) and have your child tell you which is more, less or equal, then "join" them together. How many all together?

Have your child experiment with a flashlight. What items can the light go through? What items make a shadow?
