Importance of Lifting Through Summer Months
A note from Kieran Judge- Personal Trainer and Front Desk Staff at NDAC
As we move from cold to warmer weather, outdoor activities become more available. Whether it’s taking the dog for a walk, mowing the lawn, cleaning the car, playing with the kids/grandkids, and other various activities, incorporating strength training into our weekly schedules is critical! “I’ll be outside more so I’ll stay active” or “I’ll be mowing the lawn more so I won’t need the gym” become very common phrases. Though being outside gives us the chances to be active, they do NOT take the place and benefits of strength training.
Common benefits of strength training include:
● Increased strength and muscle mass
● Improved metabolism and weight management
● Increased bone density
● Reduces risk of injury and chronic diseases
Don’t lose your foundation of health going into summer months! To keep up with the physical demands of doing what we love outside, maintaining a good gym routine will ensure we are able to stay on our feet and enjoy Summer festivities!
