Principal's Message
Greetings SHMS community!
I am excited to host prospective students and families for our final in-person Open House event this Thursday evening from 6:00-7:30 PM. While it is challenging to share all of the amazing things about our school community in a 90-minute event, it is invigorating to hear from our current students, staff, and families as we share a presentation, engage with a panel of stakeholders, and tour the school. Please help us advertise about this event (flyer below) so we can have another fantastic evening with prospective and future students and families this week.
The day after our Open House our students who have been working hard in the Mock Trial club all year will have their actual trial at a federal courthouse in front of Justice Jia Cobb. Mock Trial is one of the many programs I will celebrate and highlight at the Open House as it is a prime example of the way our community partners, families, and staff collaborate to design and deliver enriching activities for our students. A big thank you to the Washington Lawyers Committee and Georgetown Law School for stepping in to pick up where a former SHMS parent left off with initiating and growing this program! I am excited to see future prosecutors and defense attorneys in practice on Friday night!
The second round of parent-teacher conferences are fast approaching, please be on the look out for the sign-up link which we will share at the end of the week. Also, a reminder that SHMS does not schedule conferences on the day advertised on the DCPS calendar and hosts a pair of evening events instead.
Let's have a great week and I hope to see some of your at one of the evening events later this week!
Warm regards,
Eric Fraser
Principal

News and Announcements
Panorama Family Survey Opens Monday, February 24!
Each Spring, DC Public Schools asks our families to complete the annual DCPS Panorama Family Survey, an anonymous survey that the school system uses to collect vital feedback for DCPS as a whole, and your student(s) school leadership, about your family's experiences within the schools.
Stuart-Hobson would be very grateful if you can take approximately 10 minutes to complete the DCPS Panorama Family Survey between February 24-March 28th. You can reach the survey here: https://dcsays.dc.gov/
All responses to the survey are 100% confidential, and there is no way to tie anything you write back to you or your child. If you have children in more than one DCPS schools, the survey will allow you to complete it more than once for each of the relevant schools. Thank you for your attention to this, and for your support for Stuart-Hobson!
Permission Slip for PE Climbing Wall Unit
We are excited to share that students enrolled in PE will have the opportunity to participate in a climbing wall unit as part of their curriculum. Indoor rock climbing is one of the fastest-growing physical activities today, helping students develop coordination, strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness—all while having fun!
To ensure student safety and participation, families must provide signed permission. Only students enrolled in PE and with a signed permission slip will be allowed to use the gym climbing wall.
Please review and complete the permission slip linked below:

Stuart-Hobson Student Attendance
The Cluster is a strong community of families, and the PTA strengthens that community by working together to support our students and campuses. Joining the PTA is a great opportunity to learn more about our school, enrich the student experience, and meet new people. PTA dues help fund critical programs, as well as supplies for music, art, library, and athletics.
