Yearbook Reveal
Our Yearbook reveal was amazing! The work these students put into the book is awesome. It is an absolutely beautiful book.
The yearbook staff and Mr. Matthews would like to thank all those who have purchased a 2024 yearbook!! Many thanks for all of your support!
There are still a few yearbooks left. You may buy one directly from Mrs. Phillips.
Great Grizzly Grab
Each year, the Maws & Paws Booster Club donates prizes to be given away to our students on the seniors last day. Students across all grades are entered into a drawing based upon being nominated for the Grizzly Way Pillars and based upon yearly attendance. We were able to give away around $1800 in prizes and gift cards plus tickets to the Newport Roxy Theatre. The largest prize not included in the above total was a 2006 Ford Taurus donated by the Booster Club and the Grizzly Garage. Congrats to Senior William Shaw for winning the car. The drawing for the car was solely based upon attendance. ATTENDANCE MATTERS!!!

Mrs. Moser's Class
Mrs. Moser's Life Skills class enjoyed their annual End of the Year BBQ at the Newport Park. There's no sweeter way to end a BBQ than going to Owen's for ice cream! Go Griz!
NEA Scholar Athletes
Congrats to Colton Seeber and Sophia Stott on being named the NEA Scholar Athletes from Newport. They were able to attend a luncheon in their honor accompanied by their families and Athletic Director Brett Mackey. Way to go Grizzlies!
Math Summer Courses
In an effort to take both Calculus and Statistics before graduating high school, several students have asked if there is an opportunity to take a math class over the summer so they can advance to the next level as we return in the fall.
We researched several options, and want to ensure all students have access to the opportunity if they choose.
Parents/Guardians may enroll students in the online courses through BYU Independent StudyHigh School courses. The courses will be at the families expense and both semesters of the course would need to be completed by August 29th or students will remain in their scheduled math course. Students must be registered in the general course, not credit recovery. Credit Recovery courses are designed for students that have previously failed the course. Students wishing to earn credit to advance ahead in math MUST be enrolled in the general education course.
You may contact Mrs. Pierce for help with registration and course selection (509) 447-2481 or piercesaraya@newportgriz.com.
Students will make their account: https://is.byu.edu/hs and get started. Again, please reach out to Mrs. Pierce if you have any questions regarding the course selection and registration process.

2024-25 FAFSA updates: Colleges are being flexible!
Seniors, don’t cancel your plans! The FAFSA application process this year has been frustrating, to say the least, but colleges are being flexible and money for college or training is still available. If you haven’t submitted a financial aid application yet, don’t worry—it’s not too late! Apply as soon as you can.
Financial aid offers are starting to go out.
Some colleges have started sending out financial aid award offers to those who have applied. It’s important to remain patient, though, as the timeline will vary among colleges. Many are still working to process delayed data from the FAFSA, especially community & technical colleges.
You can now check your status & make corrections.
Log into to your StudentAid.gov account to check your application status. Due to this year’s FAFSA changes, it is especially important to confirm that your application is complete and correct. If you need to add schools to your application, add missing info, or fix an error, now is the time to do so.
Mixed status families can now finish their applications.
The U.S. Department of Education is temporarily allowing parents and guardians without a social security number to immediately complete their portion of the online 2024-25 FAFSA application. They must create a StudentAid.gov account to gain access.
Remember, in Washington, WA Grant is guaranteed to eligible students—half of families can get some money for college or career training. It’s worth it to apply for financial aid!
Continue with your plans after high school and pursue your educational goals. Be sure to submit your FAFSA or WASFA. The only way to find out if you qualify is to apply.
