We are sad to report that, due to a number of factors, we will not be hosting a Veterans Day celebration this school year. We will still have a proud display of American flags on the property and our Teaching & Learning Team will provide materials that classes can utilize to celebrate our Veterans within the classroom on this special day.
Last but not least, tonight is the home football game against Lake Forest. We hope to see you there! Purchase your tickets at GoFan.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Go Mustangs!

Message from Ms. Libert
Guardians: Please assist us in ensuring your student’s attendance is accurate when they are ill at school. Please do not make arrangements with your student to pick them up prior to speaking with a member of the nursing team.
A reminder of what students should do when feeling sick during the school day:
- Students should go to the nursing office with a pass from the class they will be missing
- The student’s health complaint will be assessed
- Rest may be offered
- The nurse will contact the guardian if arrangements are needed for the student to go home
- If a guardian gets a text or a call from their student regarding a health concern, please redirect them to the school nurse for a health assessment. One of the nurses will contact you if necessary. Guardians may always contact the nurse at extension 1395. The student will not be permitted an excused dismissal without following this process.

"Major Props" on MHS Career Expo & Networking Event
From Laura Morgan, Outreach Specialist at Illinois Section American Water Works Association
Oh, my goodness, what a special event! Let me count the ways...
Major props to you, Alexander [Kapatos], for creating an event that truly felt different from other career fairs I have attended. It was personal. Your positive vibes and enthusiasm had a major impact on the experience as a whole. You obviously went to great lengths to meet and greet all the business partners, talk with them, remember their names, bake them extraordinary cookies; all this made them feel welcome and valued. You had so many students involved in event planning, from the MCs to the photographers, I haven't seen that level of student engagement in the career fair planning process! What an awesome way for students to take ownership and I believe this added to the excitement I felt from many of the students we interacted with.
A big shout out to all of the staff. From the lady at the front checking IDs, to the hall monitors, teachers, and counselors, all were extremely friendly, interested in the event, and welcoming. As a former teacher, you can tell which buildings are really great. Mundelein will stand out in my mind as one of the best- for students, staff, and the community!

That mindset shifted on Friday, October 18th when Professor Martha J. Lally, Ph. D., informed a CCRC packed with students about the world of careers that are open to students who study psychology! Of course, students can become psychologists, but what about game developers, market research analysts, sales executives, and political campaign managers? If you love love love psychology, there’s an world of exciting careers available to you!

It's A Great Day To Be A Mustang!
What do you get when you have an already fast course, perfect conditions, and a hungry team? You get some fantastic performances, and that's what we had Saturday at the NSC Conference meet at Lake Forest.
Our varsity squad took a strong 3rd place behind 2 really great State Ranked teams- Lake Zurich and Libertyville. We were led by Elijah Mendoza once again. Elijah ran a blazing 14:41, finishing only 5 seconds out of first. Izic Miller took 10th, and Aidan Sweet achieved Honorary All-Conference honors with his 20th place finish. Erick Cordova took 26th, with Andrew Weaver and Brandon Newell taking 32nd and 33rd.
The places were great, but the times were even better. It's rare that you have big PRs this late in the season, but to have this many drop so much time is unheard of. Our top 7 in the Varsity race dropped an average of over 30 seconds each from their previous best efforts. That's getting it done. The Varsity weren't the only ones dropping big times. Nearly every runner who participated had a PR, and most of them by a considerable amount. A great team performance overall, and a great way for a lot of our guys to finish their seasons.
On Tuesday our freshmen and sophomores competed in the Buffalo Grove Race Car Rally, a fun and competitive meet. For awards the top finishers receive Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars. It's unique and the athletes love it.
Our freshmen stole the show by winning the team race over a dozen teams, several among the best programs in the state. We placed 4 in the top 13 runners. We were led by Erick Cordova and Brandon Newell in 4th and 5th. Aidan Sweet took 8th, with Advik Sharma in 13th all taking home race cars. Henry Molozaiy and Jake Williams took 40th and 42nd, with Chance Winckler taking 88th. Great efforts by all.
In the sophomore race it was all Izic Miller, as he took the lead early on and won by 12 seconds. The team took 7th out of 10 teams overall. Adrian Pacheco Reyes narrowly missed taking home a race car himself, taking 33rd and running his best race of the season. Logan Vale took 63rd, Ceasar Hernandez took 66th, and Caden McDermott took 80th to finish the scoring.
The freshmen received a "Monster Truck" for their team trophy, and well-deserved. A great way for a lot of them to finish their season. Saturday the Varsity will compete in the IHSA Regional meet at Warren HS, looking to advance to the Sectional meet at Busse Woods next week. Hope you can all come out to support us.
