NMS Update 7.28.2024
Northfield Middle School 24 -25
Message from the Principal
Middle School Families:
Welcome to our first edition of the NMS Update for the 2024-25 school year. For the next several weeks we will be introducing a few people that you and your students may connect with. Also, make sure to look through the important dates and information below.
Who is Northfield Middle School’s Principal? My name is Greg Gelineau and I have been the Assistant Principal or Principal at Northfield Middle School for the past 26 years. Prior to being in Northfield, I taught Mathematics and did an administrative assignment at Nicollet Jr. High in Burnsville for 7 years.
Who is in your family? My wife Sherry and I will celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary this August. We have three children (Kaylie, Zach, and Emilee), who are all married and we have two of the cutest grandchildren on earth (we may be a little biased) named Hollie (2 years old) and Vivi (1 year old). I should also mention that we have a Goldendoodle named Mocha.
What do you like doing when you are not working? Growing up in Burnsville, Minnesota everything for me was about playing sports, fishing and hunting. Now that I am a little older, our focus has changed slightly to spending time with family, fishing, camping, hiking in the mountains and looking for wildlife everywhere we go. If you ask our kids, they will tell you that hiking 8-10 miles and climbing to 13,000-14,000 feet is not a relaxing trip. But, we love the outdoors and have always been in awe of the mountains. Below are a couple photos of Rocky Mountain National Park, one of my walleyes I caught, and a bear we saw at Glacier National Park eating huckleberries. Don’t hesitate to start up a conversation about the outdoors with me, and I am always open to new fishing secrets or talk sports. Enjoy the photos and we will see everyone soon.
Greg Gelineau
Northfield Middle School Principal
Immunizations Required for Incoming 7th Grade Students
Students entering 7th grade in the fall of 2024 must have all required childhood immunizations on file, or a legal exemption in order to attend public school in Minnesota. Parents may review their student's current health record in Family Access.
Please ask your physician to print or fax your immunization records to NMS. Records can be mailed to NMS 2200 Division Street South, Northfield, MN 55057, faxed (507-663-0660), or dropped off at the main office by August 30th, 2024.
Questions, please contact Carol Reed, NMS nurse, at creed@northfieldschools.org or

Required immunizations for students entering 7th grade:
Tdap (tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis)
Varicella vaccine - two shots or documentation of having the chicken pox
Meningococcal (meningitis)
If you do not want your child to have these immunizations, we will need a physician-signed medical exemption or a notarized conscientious exemption form in the health file.
