Principal's Message
Good afternoon Mira Loma Families,
Our nineteenth week of school was highlighted by our IB Art 1 and Advanced Ceramics students participating in an Art Field Trip on Wednesday, 1/15/2025, to the Crocker Art Museum. During the field trip, students explored inspiration for their next Crocker Kingsley Art project. This project is an art competition, and the Mira Loma Visual and Performing Arts Department is likely to have several of our students' artworks chosen to be entered into this art show at the Crocker Art Museum later this spring. Thank you to Mrs. Kristi Char, Mrs. Sandra Sastre, and Mr. Josh Stinson for organizing and attending this field trip with the students!
In addition, I am thrilled to share some wonderful news about our students' exceptional performance in the 2024 Northwest Chinese Essay Contest. Out of 10 submissions from Mira Loma High School, every student received recognition, showcasing their dedication and talent. Congratulations to the following students for the recognition they received: First Place Award: Kinsey Smith [Regular-Intermediate], Madeline Dall-Parker [Regular-Intermediate], Hudson Bethea [Regular-Beginner], Amberlin Liu [Heritage-Advanced], Chunyee Shu [Heritage-Advanced], Joseph Lam [Heritage-Advanced], Second Place Award: Daisy McDaid [Regular-Intermediate], Anastasiia Ovsiannikova [Regular-Intermediate], Eunwoo Heo [Regular-Intermediate], Honorable Mention: Justin Huang [Regular-Intermediate]. Thank you to Mrs. Bihyuan Yang for your mentorship and guidance of our students in the Chinese Program!
In addition, Mira Loma High School was recently ranked the 27th best public high school in California out of approximately 1,300 public high schools serving over 2 million students, according to a recent publication by Money, Inc. This recognition is a testament to the work of our students, parents, teachers, and support staff, whose achievements and dedication to our school allow us to provide a world-class education!
We encourage families to continue to have discussions with your children about school safety and how to report if they have knowledge of a concern. Recently, our administration has seen an increase in communication from students and families when concerns are noticed, allowing us to intervene and resolve issues before they can escalate. This partnership is essential in keeping our campus safe. Please see the yellow “Safety First” icon below for additional information about how to report a concern. We look forward to continuing our conversations about school safety and growing our partnerships with students and families, in an effort to keep our campus safe.
Our Winter Sports season continued this week with Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer, and Wrestling all participating in competitive action! On Monday of this week, Boys Basketball won a close game against Bear River 53-50. Girls Basketball lost a tough battle against Bear River High School on the road. On Tuesday of this week, Wrestling hosted a dual-match at Mira Loma and competed well. Girls soccer lost in a tough match at Colfax. On Wednesday of this week, Boys Basketball played well in a win against Marysville High School at Mira Loma. Girls Basketball played well in a loss at Wheatland High School. Boys Soccer won 3-2 in a close match at Colfax High School. On Thursday of this week, Girls Soccer defeated Marysville 4-1 in a close match. On Friday evening of this week, Boys and Girls Basketball host Marysville, while Boys Soccer travels to Marysville High School for an away match. Great job to all of our Winter Sports coaches and players!
Thank you for your partnership and dedication to Mira Loma High School and I wish you all a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,

Sober Grad Night 2025
Hello fellow Mira Loma Parents,
Mira Loma has a tradition of having a Sober Senior Grad Night at Country Club Lanes, located at 2600 Watt Ave Sacramento 95821. This event typically starts at 10pm after graduation and goes through 4am the next day. This year Mira Loma’s graduation will be on 6/9/25 (Monday), so the event would be from 6/9/25 at 10pm through 6/10/25 at 4am. We are looking for Mira Loma parent volunteers to be part of the Grad Night Committee and/or volunteer during the event. There is a scheduled tour of the venue on 1/17/25 (Friday) at 7pm. This will allow us to see the venue and discuss pricing options. Please note that this is not a school sponsored event and must be covered by ticket sales. It will not happen without enough student interest or parent volunteers. Please join us on Friday 1/17/25 at 7pm at County Club Lanes if you can and would like to be a part of carrying on this Mira Loma High School tradition.
