MUMS Family Newsletter

Dear caregivers and families,

It was a another fun filled, busy week at MUMS!

We hosted our last dance of the year last Friday night! We had just about 300 students show up to dance, play games, eat good food and celebrate the end of school year! Thanks so much to all of the families who work so hard to make it happen, we couldn't have done it without you!

On Wednesday of this week our 8th graders visited MUHS to learn about what their school days could look like through the eyes of the peer mentors there! Students really enjoyed the experience and are generally ready to be MUHS students!

Also on Wednesday we welcomed our rising 6th graders to MUMS! It was nice to put faces to names and get to know our incoming 6th graders a bit better! We can't wait to welcome them to MUMS officially at 6th grade orientation on August 23rd!

Lastly, our Jazz band played on church street yesterday to celebrate the Burlington Jazz Festival! Students played well and represented MUMS and ACSD well! Congratulations to our Jazz band for their incredible growth this year!

Next week we will host our 8th grade promotion on Thursday from 10:30-11:30. Additionally, our 6th & 7th graders will spend the day at Branbury! On Friday we will have our annual Field Days and send our students off for the summer!

8th graders in Ms. Binder and Ms. Nardiello’s rooms are investigating, classifying, and solving systems of equations. They have three strategies: graphing, substitution, and elimination. So many of the skills they learned throughout the years apply to this work! Ms. Binder said, “It is fun to see the fluency that has developed and the connections that are being made!”

Being able to stand while working helps with focus, and being able to work next to peers promotes valuable collaboration as they practice their skills!

YEARBOOKS FOR SALE!

$20 cash or checks made out to MUMS Activities

Yearbooks have arrived. If you did not pre order a yearbook, any extra's are for sale for $20, on a first come first serve basis, and can be picked up in the front office.

Our 6th and 7th graders will attend an all day field trip to Branbury state park on Thursday June 13th. Permission slips and details regarding the trip are linked in this document. Paper copies of permission slips were handed out in TA on Monday June 3rd. Permission slips are due back to TA's no later than Friday June 7th (which is today).
