The Cub Chronicles
October 27, 2024

From the Desk of Principal Greene - Mar. 30, 2025
Dear Cub Family,
I am thrilled to share some exciting news about our students’ achievements! We are incredibly proud of our LinkIt C scores, with so many students meeting and exceeding their goals. Their hard work, dedication, and perseverance have truly paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder of their success.
We also look forward to seeing these strong LinkIt C scores transfer to SC Ready in May, as our students continue to build on their progress and demonstrate their learning.
To celebrate these accomplishments, we are looking forward to a special Cookout Celebration on April 4! This event will be a wonderful opportunity for our school to recognize our students’ achievements, and enjoy some well-deserved fun.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students strive for excellence.
Educationally Yours,
Ms. Greene
ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL
We kindly remind all families of our school’s arrival and dismissal policies:
- 1st Period begins at 8:30 AM. Students arriving after this time will be considered tardy.
- The first two tardies will result in a warning and a phone call home. Additional tardies may lead to disciplinary action.
- Our school day ends at 3:30 PM, and the car line typically clears by 3:50 PM. Please ensure your child is picked up no later than 4:00 PM. If you are unable to pick up your child on time, we encourage utilizing school bus transportation.
Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring our students maximize their learning time. Your partnership is invaluable in fostering a culture of punctuality and academic success.

3C Club at Harvest Hope
Last week 3C members and Mr. Kyler volunteered at the Harvest Hope Food Bank. Cubs Club in the Community sorted donated food and packed 278 boxes to help those in need in our community. Way to volunteer Southside!
6th Grade Social Studies
What a way to introduce the Interwar Period (Great Depression era)! Mr. Moses’ 6th grade social studies classes did a Picture Walk around the classroom in groups, wrote down observations of the pictures on the wall during this era, and drew conclusions on their view of the Great Depression.

2025 Swim Conditioning
It’s time to get ready for swim season! Conditioning is key to building strength, endurance, and speed in the pool. Our swim team is hitting the gym to boost performance and power through those laps! Whether it's strength training, cardio, or flexibility drills, every session gets us one step closer to peak performance.
This is for rising 7th grade students and up. Beginning June 2nd, conditioning will take place on Mondays and Thursdays from 10 am to 11 am at the Country Club of South Carolina. Students must be cleared in Planet HS. The swim season begins August 4. For more information, email jchatlosh@fsd1.org.
