The Manning Minute

Dear Manning Families,

I want to start by congratulating our amazing band and orchestra students on their outstanding performances this past week. Their dedication and hard work continue to shine through, and we couldn’t be prouder of their talent! A big thank you to our directors, Mr. Eldredge and Ms. Montgomery, as well as to our families for their ongoing support of our musicians.

I’d also like to recognize our robotics team for their impressive efforts at last Saturday’s district championship at Wayne Carle. The STEAM department is proud to announce the following: the design award was won by Hannah Robinson, Alex and Wesley Reese. Manning also brought home the inspire award won by Henry Bauer, Kellen Hamilton, Leif Barton, and Luke Fesler. A special thanks to our coaches, Ms. Maud, Ms. Pearce, and Ms. Schwindt for their support of our robotics masters. Well done!

We kindly ask that families refrain from having food delivered to the school through third-party services like Uber Eats and DoorDash. While this may be a convenient option, the high volume of deliveries creates unnecessary disruptions in the main office. However, families are always welcome to drop off lunch in person. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Thank you to all of the families that donated personal hygenie products or monetary donations to our annual Grub Club collection. Manning collected 3096 individual products to help Jeffco youth. The 3 advisement classes that collected the most products will enjoy a special treat from PTA. They are Ms. Schwindt, Ms. Ratke and Ms. Laniel's classes.

Looking ahead, all sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students will be taking the annual CMAS assessment beginning the week of April 7. More details will be shared in an upcoming Manning Minute, but if you have any questions in the meantime, please reach out to Ms. Yocum.

A quick reminder that spring break is just around the corner, running from March 17-21. Additionally, Monday, March 24, is a non-student contact day, and classes will resume on Tuesday, March 25. I hope you all have a safe and restful spring break!

Following popular demand, Manning will be running a second STEAM Club for the rest of the spring semester, for 8th graders only. Ms. Maud will be working to lead students in designing, constructing, testing, and racing their own model solar- or battery-powered cars as part of the Platte River Power Authority Middle School Car competition.

The club will meet on Thursdays starting March 13th in Ms. Maud’s room until 4:45pm. There will be a $50 fee per student to cover the costs of materials, t-shirts and any other expenses.

The club will culminate with the Platte River Power Authority competition on Saturday, May 3rd in Ft. Collins. Families who have an interested 8th grader should complete this Google Form: https://forms.gle/KQuCQxyShrJEKCu9A

All 7th graders who had a cumulative GPA of 3.65 or above were invited to be a part of the 25/26 Manning NJHS chapter on February 20th. If your 7th grader was invited to this meeting, they were given this flyer with more information about NJHS and the application process.

If they are interested in joining, they need to contact Mrs. Laniel through her email, kamjacob@jeffcoschools.us or they should visit her in her classroom, N110, so they know how to apply. All applications are due March 14th. Decisions will be made by March 31st, and the new member induction ceremony will take place on May 14th at 6PM. Please let us know if you have questions!

Mrs. Mendez is once again hosting a summer theatre workshop! We consistently have inquiries about theatre camps or workshops that might be offered around our community and many families are priced out of some of the expensive camps or they fill up before students even have a chance to register. We will be hosting a one week long workshop this summer (June 16th-June 20th).The workshop is from 8:30 am until noon with a final workshop run through on the 20th at 5:00 pm. See this link for more information and to register. If one camp fills up, I will add a second camp in the afternoon that week. Registration closes April 5, 2025 and auditions will be due by April 12, 2025.

“Fun”raising: Join your community and support Manning PTA by dining at Tellers Tap Room, 1990 Youngfield St, Lakewood, CO 80215, this Tuesday, March 11th. Hope to see you there.

Spring Silent Auction - Families have another opportunity to purchase lockers, choose their student's lunch period, reserve seats for the 8th-grade continuation, and more in our Spring Silent Auction. Proceeds from this year's auction will support improvements to Manning's Makerspace, including a new 3D printer, upgraded iPads, additional Oculus headsets, and the replacement of the mural in the school library. The PTA will match all funds raised, up to $10,000. Final bids are due by Sunday, April 13th at 8 p.m. Stay tuned for the auction site link, which will be shared after Spring Break.

Upcoming dates to remember:

• March 10-14: Kids are on the lookout for the famous leprechaun troll hiding in the Manning hallways! Anyone who spots it and reports its location to the front office will be entered into the daily drawing for a $20 gift card.

• April 5th & 6th: Rockies opening weekend games supporting Manning. Visit the Rockies School Fundraising website, select Manning as your participating school, then select your game/time and you’re set.

• April 7-13: Spring Silent Auction - bid on lockers, front row continuation seats, and more.

• April 30th: Join us for the final PTA General Meeting of the year at 830am, Manning LMC.
