It was wonderful to see so many families at Literacy Night! A big thank you to everyone who participated. We are now looking forward to our Thanksgiving Feast on November 20th and would love to have our families join us for this special day.

Here’s what you can expect:

• Lunch: Families are invited to join us for lunch in the cafeteria or in the classrooms depending on the schedule. Please see the menu below and use the provided link to purchase your meal in advance.
• Art Show: We’ll also have our Art Show on display, so be sure to stop by and view the amazing student artwork!
• Book Fair: Don’t miss our Book Fair! It’s a great opportunity to support our school and find wonderful books for your child.

We Need Your Input!
It's that time of year again for our Annual Parent Perception Survey. Your participation is essential, as the results will influence our strategic goals and our school report card. Please refer to the letter below to complete the survey. Thank you in advance for your involvement!

At Fulton County Schools, we truly value the feedback from our parents about their experiences with the district. That is why I encourage all parents to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey. This survey allows parents the opportunity to tell us what they think about their student’s schools and the district. While we always make it a priority to listen to our parents, this survey affords us another opportunity to receive your thoughts and opinions.

The survey is anonymous and confidential. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. The survey will remain open from Wednesday, October 16 through Friday, November 22.

It’s not only parents we want to hear from. Our students’ opinions are important too! Students in grades 3-12 will be provided with the opportunity to take the Annual Student Perception Survey between October 17 and November 22 during the school day. In our ongoing efforts to remain transparent with parents, please take a moment to review the 3-5 student survey

The Annual Perception Survey is currently available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Hindi, and Punjabi. If you or your family would like to take it in a language that is not listed, please email your child’s principal.

The Book Fair has arrived! Your child will get the chance to preview the Book Fair and create a wish list next week. Be on the lookout for your child’s wish list! The week of Nov. 18-22, your child will have the opportunity to shop during their regular scheduled specials time. They can bring money any day that week and shop. If you send cash, please place it in an envelope or baggie with your child’s name on it, or you can create an eWallet account and load money to your child’s account. November is a wonderful time to focus on gratitude with your child. Research shows that practicing gratitude can boost mood, improve relationships, and increase overall happiness. Here are a few simple ways to practice gratitude at home this month:

1. Gratitude Jar: Set up a gratitude jar where family members can drop in notes about things they’re thankful for. At the end of the month, read them together to reflect on all the positives!

2. Daily Gratitude Moments: Make it a routine to share something you’re thankful for each day, perhaps at breakfast or dinner. This small habit can make a big difference in cultivating a positive mindset.

3. Thank You Notes: Encourage your child to write a note or draw a picture for someone they appreciate—a friend, family member, or teacher. It’s a simple way to show kindness and build connections.

Have you heard your child mention anything about an app called Beanstack? It was introduced in the Media Center. Beanstack is a digital reading log that students can use to log the number of minutes they are reading. They can earn badges and rewards along the way. This year, we have a schoolwide reading goal of 50,000 minutes! We can’t reach our goal without the help of your child! If your child is reading at school, home, daycare, etc. they can log their minutes and help us get closer to our goal. The following is a video explaining how to use Beanstack from home. Family Engagement Thursdays

Families! YOU are your child’s first and most influential teacher. As such you have so much to offer your student! To encourage family engagement at home, we are offering family engagement Thursdays. Each week there will be (1) activity to do at home to be completed prior to Friday. We’ll list the activities for the month in Hembree Highlights and offer reminders via social media. Your student will have the opportunity to receive a *bonus* Hawk’s ticket for participating (look out for more details from your teacher) We’ll include tips and tricks to get the conversation started and reinforce learning from the school day. Please spend anywhere from 10-20 minutes with your child engaging with them around their day at school and encouraging their social and emotional skills. We’ll also encourage you to practice other skills inclusive of Math and ELA.
