Dear FPS Community:
Spring has arrived! Glimpses of sunshine, breaks in the rain and rising temperatures remind us that Summer is around the corner. It marks a time of both change and growth.
I am reminded of change as Franklin Pierce Schools deals with the reality that we will have many staff changes going into next year. We have some leaders and educators who will be moving away, changing professions, or working closer to where they live, and we have leaders and educators who are looking for new opportunities due to reductions in positions to align our staffing levels with state resources and a lower student enrollment. I recognize that this set of changes will be extremely difficult for a wonderful group of talented and committed employees who have invested a lot in students, schools and our community. I am hopeful that they will find meaningful opportunities and that we as a district can imagine new ways to approach our work.
I was reminded of growth yesterday when I had the opportunity to listen to high school seniors participate in panel interviews about the ways that their education has helped them to get to where they are as well as their dreams for their time beyond high school. I am always amazed by the stories that students carry with them, the wisdom that they hold as they make sense of the world, and their passion for contributing to a better future. It’s a wonderful testament of the ways that students, families, educators, mentors, friends and our broader community collectively invest in our future.
As we continue in this season of change and growth, I am continually grateful for the ways that families from across the district continue to collaborate and partner with our schools.
With gratitude,
Dr. Lance Goodpaster

No Hate Tour at FPHS
Earlier this month, Franklin Pierce High School hosted the No Hate Tour, an impactful educational program that uses the energy and excitement of BMX to deliver critical bullying prevention tools, techniques, and information to students in a relatable, peer-to-peer manner. This was a thrilling assembly and the gym was filled with cheers and astonishment at the BMX tricks that were performed! We are grateful to these athletes for sharing this important message about bullying prevention.
The FPS Performing Arts Center
We are excited to share that construction is complete on the new Franklin Pierce Schools Performing Arts Center! In 2016, voters passed a $157 million dollar bond for new facilities in the Franklin Pierce community. Completed projects include 5 new elementary schools, new middle school commons, early learning upgrades, STEM and athletics facilities and much more. The FPS Performing Arts Center is the final project of the bond and was completed a few weeks ago! We look forward to generations of students showcasing their talents in this beautiful venue in the near future!
