A Message from Mrs. Mills (Richey)
Happy Sunday, Harris Park families!
It was such a joy to have our students back in the building this week! Thank you for your continued partnership in ensuring a smooth and successful school year.
December PTA Meeting
Our next PTA meeting is Tuesday, December 10th, from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM in the library. If you’re interested in joining, please email Laurie Perila at lperila@wps.org. We’d love to have you involved!
Chromebook Reminders
Thank you for ensuring your children arrive at school on time with fully charged Chromebooks. If your child brings their Chromebook home, please help us by reminding them to:
- Charge it nightly.
- Keep it on a desk or table, away from food and drinks.
- Handle it with care to avoid damage.
Your efforts help keep our technology in excellent condition—thank you!
Preschool Drop-Off and Pick-Up
To ensure safety during drop-off and pick-up, all preschool families are asked to park in the back of the school and walk through the playground to sign children in or out. Please arrive on time for drop off at 7:30 and pick up at 1:50.
K-5 Drop-Off and Pick-Up for Families Who Park
- Drop-Off: Families who choose to park and drop off children should do so at the back of the building (playground side) on W 74th Ave.
- Safety: There are no crosswalks in our front parking lot, making it unsafe to walk between cars to enter the school. However, there are crosswalks on W 74th Ave, and if you park facing westbound, your child will not have to cross any streets or walk between vehicles.
- Parking: The cul-de-sac and dead-end in front of the school are not designated parking areas.
- Pick-Up: Staff at the gate near the back playground can assist by calling your child out for you.
General Pick Up and Drop Off Safety and Visual Support for staff
- Driveline Numbers: Please display your driveline number at pickup so we can send a message to their teacher so your student is ready to be picked up
- Intersection at Winona and 75th: We are a community school and strive for positive relationships. If you are waiting on Winona to be waved forward in the pick up lane, please turn on the corresponding turn signal to indicate you are picking up. This allows us to spot our community members who we would like to wave through the intersection when safe.
- Hug and Go Drop Off and Pick Up Lane: Never drive on the wrong side of the street to park or to move ahead in line. Please remain patient and follow the guidance of our staff.
- Parking and Walking to the School: If you prefer to park in the neighborhood near the front or back of the building to pick up your child, please adhere to all traffic laws, including avoiding U-turns, driving on the correct side of the street, and refraining from parking in front of driveways. Additionally, please follow pedestrian laws by using crosswalks when crossing the street.
Let’s work together to model safe and responsible behavior for our children. Our top priority is the safety of all our students, and we thank you for helping us maintain a secure and efficient process.
