Math with Mrs. Skiba

I have a class website where students and guardians can quickly access information. You will be able to see our class calendar, daily notes and links to newsletters. Additionally, I have created an Amazon Class Wish List. I have told students if they feel that anything should be added to our classroom to let me know and I will add it. I will be continually adding items throughout the year. Please do not feel obligated to make a purchase, but all donations are appreciated. Continual desired items include antibacterial wipes and lined paper.

Please check PowerSchool weekly to stay up to date on your student's grades and missing work. PowerSchool will be your best resource to track your student's progress. Assignments are entered into Google Classroom but often times students forget to electronically mark they have been turned in so they will say they are late and/or missing when they have actually been turned in and graded. If you have any questions, please let me know.

This week we began Chapter 5 with Lesson 5.1: Ratios and Ratio Tables and Lesson 5.2: Rates and Unit Rates. If your student would like additional resources for support I recommend the BIM website and Khan Academy. (Ratios and Ratio Tables and Rates and Unit Rates).

Next week we will study Lesson 5.3: Identifying Proportional Relationships and take Lessons 5.1-5.3 Quiz on Thursday, February 2nd. If your student would like additional resources for support I recommend the BIM website and Khan Academy. (Identifying Proportional Relationships). In order to be eligible for a quiz redo, students must complete the practice quiz. (answer key)

This week we completed Chapter 4 with Lesson 4.7: Writing Equations in Point-Slope Form. If your student would like additional resources for support I recommend the BIM website and Khan Academy. (Writing Equations in Point-Slope Form). We will also reviewed for our Chapter 4 Test that will be on Tuesday, January 31th. In order to be eligible for a test redo, students must complete the practice test (answer key). All Chapter 4 absent and missing work will be due on Tuesday, January 31th.

Next week we will take our Chapter 4 test and Chapter 5: Systems of Linear Equations Pretest. In order to be eligible for a test redo, students must complete the practice test. Test redos will be due by Wednesday, February 8th. We will also study Lesson 5.1: Solving Systems of Linear Equations by Graphing. If your student would like additional resources for support I recommend the BIM website and Khan Academy. (Solving Systems of Linear Equations by Graphing).

Our math support interventionist, Kristi Nelson, is offering after school help every Monday and Wednesday from 2:30-3:30 PM in the Math Intervention room located across the hall from Student Services. If your student would like to stay but is unsure of the location, I am happy to help them find the room.
