Critical Thinker
Mr. Schurr participants thought critically about what talents to exalt, how to choreograph and/or sing those talents, and create entertaining, uplifting acts for another successful Mr. Schurr on the hill. The tradition continues since 2001, and sold out since 2004. Thank you for working hard to continue creating an uplifting school culture.
Collaborator/ Communicator
Mr. Schurr participants worked hard all week, collaborated with one another, supported each other's individual acts, and created another entertaining, uplifting, sold-out evening for the Spartan community. . We thank you al for creating meaningful memories for Schurr.
Creator
Schurr Senior, Connor Lam, is Mr. Schurr, 2025!!! We commend you for your critical thinking and communication to a tough question--"align your personal goals with making a positive contribution to your community"--your collaboration with Mr. Schurr High participants as you create a positive school culture daily. Congratulations!
Schurr Announcements
SCHURR Expectation of the Month: Hardworking
You may write me down in history with your bitter, twisted lines.
You may trod me in the very dirt, but still, like dust, I'll rise."
-Maya Angelou
Attendance Rate: Our latest attendance rate was 95.21%. Woo-hoooo!!!! Please continue to go out of your way to show your students your supportive, uplifting spirit. Let's work hard to keep our attendance rate above 95%, our school safe, and our spirit positive. Please greet students with your uplifting Spartan Spirit and engaging 4Cs learning environments. Remind them that they are loved at Schurr. Thank you all for making Schurr special.
Door Decorating Contest: AVID's Annual Door Decorating Contest is back! This year's deadline: March 14th. The prize: a Nacho Party. AVID and non-AVID classes are welcome to compete. AVID Club will judge participating doors on March 28th. The winning class gets a nacho party.
Parent LCAP Surveys: Please complete the LCAP Surveys your children brought home. Your perspective matters to us so that we can continue improving to create a safe, positive learning culture at Schurr. We appreciate your support.
Phone Confiscation: Please inform students that we are confiscating phones from students if they are out of class during instructional time using their phones. Thank you for your support.
Programming: Our students continue programming with our counselors this week. Our counselors meet one-on-one with all the students on their "Alpha." Teachers, if you have a chance, please talk to students who you think can take more advanced classes. While the decision to take classes rests on each student, a nudge from their supportive teachers can make a difference. At the end of the day, you work daily with your students, you know them best, and you can also support and guide their next steps. Thank you all for all you do.
SBAC ELA (March 18 - March 21): Next week, our 11th graders will be taking the ELA SBAC. We intentionally created our Mid-Terms that week. There will be a block schedule so that 9th, 10th, and 12th graders have time to complete assignments, essays, and/or tests. For the 11th graders that week, the priority is the ELA SBAC. We will follow our current Block Schedule:
- Tuesday, March 18, Periods 1, 2, 3
- Wednesday, March 19, Period 4, 5, 6
- Thursday, March 20, Periods 1, 2, 3
- Friday, March 21, Periods 4, 5, 6
Tardy Sweeps: Please remind students that we conduct random tardy sweeps. Please remind them that we will take our "cell phone" boxes to our tardy sweeps moving forward. Thank you.
