- Schedule campus tours or connect with college reps. Our college rep information is located in Naviance.
- As Fall 2024 college applications begin to open, Texas Tech University will be hosting workshops throughout the summer to help your students prepare for the application process with an inside look at college applications, best practices and tips, and resources available to help them navigate applying to college successfully! The Application Workshops will be hosted at various locations, but the closest will be June 25th in Lone Tree. Virtual workshops are also available.
- The Regional Officers of Admissions of the Rockies' (ROAR's) Annual Summer College Search Series is returning to the Front Range in person! Each event features a 30-minute panel where college admissions experts answer your questions about the college search, financial aid, essays, and more! After the panel, visit the college fair to ask any questions you have about specific institutions in attendance. High school students and their support systems are invited to attend. Please register in advance through Strivescan at StriveFair.com/ROAR Walk ins are welcome.
- Request letters of recommendation from teachers. Start with the Student Profile for Letters of Recommendation under About Me in Naviance, or create a resume. Then request letters by talking to teachers face-to-face. Last, you will need to request the letter in Naviance>College>Letters of Recommendation>Add Request>Choose General Request. The more time/notice you give teachers, the better your recommendation will be. Check the requirements for your possible colleges to know how many letters you might need. Don't request 10 if you need 1. Please don't request more than 4 teachers.
- Planning to play college sports? Apply for NCAA or NAIA!
- Check out all of this information and more on the Post Grad website!
- Official transcripts are requested through Naviance and sent through Naviance. Naviance does an update in July/August so we are usually able to send transcripts starting in Mid-August. This WILL NOT negatively impact your student's application.
Community Service
- Complete some or all of your 20 hours of community service. Make sure that you bring the community service verification with you when you volunteer and turn it in early. 111 juniors have already completed this graduation requirement, while 348 juniors have not. Some scholarships look for 100 hours or more of community service, so it could earn you some $$$. District guidelines on what counts and what does not count are very specific. Please look through the guidelines on the verification form before signing up for hours. To be 100% sure your hours will count, please go off of our resource guide, or get pre-approval with Mrs. Isaak.
Your help is needed in getting our computers ready for the new school year by cleaning the interior and exterior surfaces of the devices as well as other tech-related tasks. Supplies will be provided.
If you haven't yet earned your 5 hours of Community Service with a previous Castle View Activity, please consider volunteering your time on Monday, August 5th, and Tuesday, August 6th from 9 am to 2 pm.
Sign Up at Community Service Opportunity at CVHS. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Harvey (vivian.harvey@dcsdk12.org)
